Eczema is a basically a skin related disorder that can happen due to various reasons. Some of them include stress, irritants, allergies, microbes, weather change and hormonal imbalance.

Those suffering from eczema complain of several types of symptoms, such as redness, dryness, itching, rashes, and dark and rough patches. But beyond all these problems, this disease often leaves behind ugly scars, which take a lot of time to fade away.

There are myriad medications and ointments available in the market, which boast of lightening eczema scars. However, a lot of them have severe side effects too. So, opting for home remedies is the best measure. Such remedies not only provide relief from the pain and itching but majorly help in lightening those ugly scars.

  1. Honey

Honey is known o be a universal healer. It is helpful in curing a variety of skin ailments, including eczema and its scars. It possesses soothing, antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties, which act on the scars and thus, lightens them.

All you need to do is apply honey on the affected area and then apply it to dry. Later, rinse off with tap water. Alternately, prepare a scrub by mixing honey and sugar. Gently rub it on the scar for a few minutes and then, wash it off. Do it at least three times in a week for best results.

  1. Neem

Neem is an age-old remedy for eczema and its scars. It is also helpful in treating several other skin related ailments. It not only lightens scars but also reduces redness, inflammation and irritation.

Just crush a few neem leaves to get a coarse paste. Now mix this paste with some turmeric powder. Add a few drops of sesame oil to this mixture. Dab some of it on your scar and then, let it stay for around half an hour. Afterwards, rinse off well. Do it daily for quick results.

  1. Oatmeal

Oatmeal is known for its soothing and cleansing properties. Therefore, its application not only provides relief from the irritation and itching but also reduces dark scars.

All you need is some ground oatmeal and instant coffee powder. Just mix both the ingredients together and then, add the mixture to your bathtub (which is already filled with lukewarm water). Now soak in the goodness of this oatmeal bath for about 30 minutes. Later rinse your body well and finish with a good moisturizer. Do it every day for quick healing.

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is another great ingredient, which helps in reducing eczema scars. It is so because it contains astringent, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.

Just take two teaspoons each of raw and unfiltered apple cider vinegar, and raw honey and mix them together in a glass of water. Now, drink this concoction at least three times in one day. It will help in boosting the immunity, thus gradually reduce eczema scars.

Try another remedy by directly applying apple cider vinegar on the scar. Just dilute it by mixing one of part this vinegar in two parts of water. Then apply it on to your scar daily. Do it till the time the scar fades away completely.

  1. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera too is a great ingredient useful in lightening scars of various types of skin ailments, including eczema. This is owing to the presence of anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties in it. These qualities not only lighten scars but also reduce irritation and itching.

All you need to do is apply aloe vera gel directly on the affected area. To extract aloe vera gel, just take a leaf and scoop the gel from inside using a spoon. Apply it a few times in a day for at least two months.

Alternately, mix equal portions of fresh aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil to get a smooth paste. Dab some of this concoction on the scar and allow it to stay for the entire night. Wash it off the next morning. Repeat daily. Do it once in a day regularly.
