Since winters are already going on, almost all of us are facing the consequences. But what can be bothersome are few body and health issues that need attention. So let’s invest a few moments to see and understand which home remedies can be helpful in this season for different problems.

  • Dry lips

No matter if you have oily, dry, sensitive, or normal skin, your lips don’t have sweat glands and with the cold wind around, they are bound to get dry and patchy.

Home remedy- Simply apply pure coconut oil/ olive oil several times a day to keep your lips moist.


  • Cracks

Cracks in feet are a very common and unpleasant sight during winters. If not treated in a specific time frame, they can become chronic and widen with dirt getting into them and cause a lot of pain. So, don’t ignore them at all.


Home remedy- Apply vegetable oils to get rid of them, be it olive oil, sesame oil, coconut oil before going to bed for best results.


  • Constipation

Since exercise levels drastically fall during winters, it is highly likely that one suffers from constipation during that period. Drinking a lot of water really helps.

Home remedy- Be on a natural diet. Consume lots of fruits, vegetables and high fiber content eatables such as berries, strawberries, beans, nuts, wheat.


  • Hypothermia

If you reside in a very cold place or are about to visit one, then beware of excess cold because it might happen that the body loses temperature very fast and get too cold.

Home remedy- The simplest solution is to avoid hypothermia from happening by staying as warm and covered as possible. If that happens at all, then check for proper breathing, pulse and if required begin cardiac resuscitation.


  • Cold and flu

With the onset of cold season, it is a very common scenario that we ignore and get on and off in cold and warm temperatures. That causes cold and in worse case flu. Although it takes 7-10 days for a cold to leave, but one should follow some cures for faster relief.

Home remedy- Breathing aromatic steam with eucalyptus oil, menthol or ginger for instant relief is imperative.


  • Dry skin

A dire consequence of winters is dry skin for those with normal or dry skin type. With cold and moisture ridden atmosphere all around, the skin starts losing moisture and turns dry and irritating.

Home remedy- Before taking a bath, rub honey all over the body and leave it for 5-10 minutes. Repeat it on a daily basis to discover your healthy skin back.


  • Painful joints

This can be directly related to weather because as bad weather sets in, atmospheric pressure also drops allowing tissues to expand which in turn can put pressure on the joints. That causes pain and sometimes inflammation.

Home remedy- Using ginger and turmeric, as both are anti-inflammatory, can heal the pain and inflammation. Just mix 2 cupfuls of water with 0.5 tablespoon turmeric and equal amount of ginger with honey and boil to get relieved of the problem


  • Dandruff

With moisture getting away from the whole body, our scalp is no different. Flaky scalps are a very common sight in winters as the skin gets dry and sheds off when one itches.

Home remedy- Boil few neem leaves in 4 cups of water and rinse hair with the cooled solution 2-3 times a week for a dandruff free scalp.


  • Sore throat

With winters coming, going or continuing, sore throat happens almost all the time due to bacterial or viral infections.

Home remedy- Just mix honey in tea or simply as a remedy to experience wonders for a sore throat.
