Charred Tomato Chutney

Tomato gives one a powerful punch of nutrition, but there’s much more! Tomatoes are a good source of Vitamins A, C, K, folate and potassium. Tomatoes are naturally low in sodium, saturated fat, cholesterol, and calories. It also provides thiamine, niacin, vitamin B6, magnesium, phosphorus and copper, all of which are necessary for good health.

Ingredients

  • 2 big ripe tomatoes
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 chopped green chilli
  • 1 tsp chopped ginger
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • Salt to taste.

Method

Hold the tomatoes with a tong and char brown the tomatoes over high flame on a gas stove. Peel the skin of the burnt tomatoes. In a food processor, grind all the ingredients along with the tomatoes. A healthy no oil tomato chutney is ready.

Serve it with healthy kebabs, idli and dosas or even it can be used as a bread spread instead of butter.
