Oats Veg Meatballs
OATS VEG MEATBALL
Oats is a perfect low calorie food which will stop your junk food cravings. It’s high in fiber and protein. It has antioxidants that protect your heart. Oats work as natural laxatives in our body and helps maintain good body weight. It is a good food for reducing the risk of Type 2 diabetes, for people having insulin sensitivity and is also helpful in lowering bad cholesterol. It is a perfect food for the mornings wherein, it will keep the stomach full without adding unwanted calories.
INGREDIENTS
- Oats - ½ cup
- Spinach - 3 tbsp
- Moong dal (cooked) - ½ cup
- Onion paste - 3 tbsp
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
- Curd - 1 tbsp
- Green chilies - 2 tsp
- Coriander leaves - 3 tbsp
- Red Chili powder - 3 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Garam masala - 2 tsp
- Amchur powder - 2 tsp
- Asafoetida powder (heeng) - a pinch
- Salt - as per taste
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Powdered Breadcrumbs - for coating.
METHOD
Grind the oats to make a fine powder. Boil moong dal. Drain the excess water (if any) and mash it to a coarse paste with the help of a fork. Add rest of the above ingredients except bread crumbs, one by one. Bind them together. Give the tikkis desired shape. Heat a nonstick pan. Apply oil to the pan. Coat the tikkis with bread crumbs & place the tikkis in the pan, allow it to cook. When it turns golden brown on one side turn it over and cook the other side. Serve it hot with pudina / coriander chutney.
SUBSTITUTE
- Moong dal can be substituted with channa dal or toor dal.
- You can add any cooked vegetables of your choice.
