Most users of this product don’t really know what essential oils are. Therefore, it is very important to know what they are so as to appreciate them and to make the most out of them.

Essential oils are natural oil typically obtained by distillation and having the characteristic odour of the plant or other source from which it is extracted. It is a concentrated hydrophobic liquid containing volatile aroma compounds from plants. Essential oils are also known as volatile oils, ethereal oils, aetherolea, or simply as the oil of the plant from which they were extracted. For example, oil extracted from a peppermint tree is named Essential Peppermint Oil. Most of these oils should be avoided during pregnancy though, therefore, users should read the instructions properly before making use of them.

Different Types of Essential Oils

  • Lavender: Used for its soothing properties. It helps us in relaxing our mind and body and is useful for preventing inflammation as well. Could be used by applying a few drops of essential oil on skin in small amounts or sprinkling a few drops on your skin could do the trick too.

  • Peppermint: Generally used as a brain charger i.e. it helps in improving mental alertness, just a whiff is good enough to provide natural burst of energy.Peppermint oil can be used as massage oil, lotion, and mouthwash. It also helps alleviate symptoms of congestion and aids in digestion. This essential oil can be used as Analgesic, cephalic, decongestant, stomachic, carminative, digestive, and expectorant.

  • Rosemary: If you are fed up with your hair problems, this is your solution. A few drops of rosemary essential oil with your shampoo or before shampoo can do wonders to your hair. Generally known for eradicating dandruff and giving a shiny effect to your hair. Also helps in relieving headaches and boosting one’s memory.
  • Cinnamon: For cinnamon both the bark and the leaves of the plant are beneficiary. The bark is usually used in perfume where it has a floral-enhancing effect. It is although a skin irritant and should be handled with care. The aromatherapy benefits of the leaf on the other hand, are that it is refreshing and vitalizing. It is earthy, spicy and a little woodsy. This product has been used since ages (although in different forms) for promoting cardiovascular health and one’s immunity.

  • Tea Tree: This is one of the most popular essential oil there is. It is widely known for its healing benefits, fights infections and boosts immune system like no other. It can be used to treat skin conditions, cuts and burns, dandruff, athlete’s foot, and blemishes among many others.For those worried about their blemishes and skin marks can try dabbing a few drops of the same on the skin.
  • Chamomile, German: Also known as blue chamomile is used as a component in perfumes. They make good massage oils. They are also known for their soothing and calming effects. Although use of this oil should be avoided during pregnancy. They are also known as mood boosters as they help in relieving stress. They can be used in steam or vapour therapy to help relieve stress.
    It is also used an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory agent and a sedative.

  • Sandalwood: Is also one of the popular ones. Generally known for improving skin hydration, used as a body lotion. It also helps in relieving tension and help calm and focuses the senses like my other essential oils.Sandalwood oil is also an excellent cleansing, astringent addition to massage and facial oils, bath oils, aftershaves, lotions and creams.
  • Jasmine: it is very popular among the perfume chemist. There is no comparison between a natural and an artificial jasmine. Jasmine perfumes are known for their sensual and romantic aromas. Although these are expensive, but totally worth it. So girls hoping to attract a certain someone, this might be the one last push you need to get his attention. Like other essential oils this one also helps with calming and unwinding oneself.

Natural products were used by our great-grand mothers, grandmothers and mothers. And will be used by our daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters, because, there are some things that never go out of fashion. So here is your chance to renovate that connection with the nature that you have been losing of late.
