Mosquitoes: They drink your blood, spread diseases and disturb your sleep. One of the most unwelcomed guests residing all around your house. Mosquito control is quite a tedious job. They will come from many places and create havoc in your house.

 All those places where water can stay can be a breeding ground for these tiny beasts. Flower pots in the balcony, Birdbaths on your terrace or garden, your pet’s water bowl, unattended cans,tires,buckets. That grass in the lawn grown more than necessary can also be a breeding ground. Those damp,moist, wet and shady places can all be the breeding ground for these beasts. Mosquitoes lay eggs in places having even inch of standing water. So make it a point to check all these places regularly and keep them as far as possible in order to avoid preparing a breeding ground for the mosquitoes.

 

 

 

 

Prevention is better than cure has been taught to us in school. That’s it, prevent these beasts from breeding and avoid all the problems which will crop up due to them. Throw all the water accumulated in any containers surrounding your house. Keep the grass low so that no shady place or damp climate if formed for their breeding. Get your neighborhood fogged regularly by informing the civic officials of your area.

 

Mosquitoes are attracted towards white light, hence avoid white lights in your garden, terrace and gates. Use old yellow candescent lights if you have keep lights running all night outside your house.Garlic spray can be used for repelling mosquito and people eating garlic also find less problem since mosquito avoid touching skin of the people who consume quite an amount of garlic. Neem oil can also be used for naturally repelling these beasts. Leaves of Neem are usually burnt just before sunset when its dusky. This is the time when the mosquitoes surface out and search for prays.  Keeping goldfish and guppies helps a lot in eliminating the mosquito larvae from ponds and fish tanks inside the house. Toads are also help in the same manner since mosquitoes are their favorite food item.

 

 

Natural mosquito repellents can be used in garden and balcony or even inside the house. Planting a few mosquito repellent plants can do wonders without causing any harm and use of chemicals can also be avoided, plus they can enhance the gardens beauty.

  • Wear full sleeve clothing and pajamas during night time.

  • Use diffusers containing mosquito repellent oils.
  • Use vaporizer at sunset time to avoid mosquitos entering your house right from evening time.
  • Mosquito repellent candles can also be used.
  • Use screens on doors and windows to keep the flies at bay.
  • Use light colored clothes.

 

Remedies for mosquitos’ bites can be found in day to day items used at home.

 

  • Oatmeal: Eat or apply oatmeal paste to get relieved from itching skin due to mosquito bite. Bathing in warm water mixed with oatmeal can also reduce swelling and itching.
  • Ice: Applying ice immediately can give instant relief from itching.
  • Honey: A thin layer on the bite spot can do a lot.
  • Aloe Vera: The sticky gel when the aloe Vera is cut open can cure bite wounds and heal faster.
  • Basil: Rubbing basil leaves on skin can reduce itching effect.
  • Tea Bag: A damp tea bag can be pressed against the bite spot immediately to relieve the pain.
  • Mouthwash: Mouthwash contains menthol which can cool down your senses from the bite.
  • Potato: A slice of raw potato can reduce the itching due to bites.
  • Banana: Inside part of banana skin can reduce sting effects.
