  • Oats Idli

It is a low calorie version of a famed south Indian dish. Roast the oats, crush them to a powder, then add grated carrots and curd to them. In a separate pan, add oil, mustard seeds, chana dal , urad dal, green chilies and curry leaves. Add this mixture to the idli batter, mixing it to a thick consistency. Steam the idlis and voila!

  • Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Powder 1/4th cup brown sugar and set it aside. In a separate bowl, mix oats (3/4th cup), wheat flour (1/4th cup), sugar, butter (1.5 tbsps), raisins (a handful) and a few drops of vanilla essence. Add the sugar to this, and then add some milk and mix in the dough with your hands. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius, and then separate the mixture into little balls, flattening them into cookie shapes on a baking tray/grease paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping them after ten minutes. Enjoy!

  • Oats Apple Smoothie

Cook 2 tbsps oats in half a cup of water, till it is thick. In a blender, add the oats along with 1 peeled, chopped apple, 1 cup of milk, 3 dates and 2 tsps honey. Blend until smooth, serve chilled and enjoy the applause.

  • Lemon Oats

In a pan, temper 1 tbsp sesame oil, 3 tbsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp urad dal, and 1 tsp chana dal, 1 sprig of curry leaves, some asafetida and a few chilies. Add one cup of oats to this, mix and cover for 3 minutes. Ad water according to the consistency you want, some salt and lemon. Your Spicy snack is ready.
