Constipation is a common problem these days, which is basically a result of the sedentary lifestyle we are living these days. It is a kind of digestive disorder in which people suffer a difficulty in passing stools. There are several symptoms of constipation, such as bloated abdomen, acidity, large size of stools, loss of appetite, headache, bad breath, acne and mouth ulcer.

The sedentary lifestyle incorporates a lot of aspects, which together contribute towards aggravation of this disorder. Some of them include poor diet, less intake of water intake, excess caffeine intake, lack of exercise, stress and intake of certain medications.

This disorder not only leads to discomfort but also alters the mood. Well, there are several home remedies, which can help in curing your constipation woes. Take a look at a few of them.

  1. Lemon

Lemon is a great remedy to cure constipation. It is because it helps in stimulating the digestive system and thus promotes bowel movement.

Just squeeze in half a lemon into a glass of lukewarm water. You can either add a pinch of salt or a teaspoon of honey to it. Mix well and then, drink it in the morning on empty stomach. Do it daily to make your digestive system come on track.

  1. Figs

Figs are a rich source of fiber and also act as a natural laxative. Therefore, they are great for those suffering from chronic constipation. You can consume them both in fresh and dried form. Make sure you consume fresh ones with the skin on because the skin contains most of the fiber content it has.

To cure your constipation woes, just take a few almonds and figs and then soak them in water for two hours. Now grind them into a thick paste. Consume this paste with a spoon of honey before going to bed.

  1. Castor Oil

Owing to its laxative property, castor oil stimulates both the intestines and thus, boosts bowel movement. All you need to do is simply gulp down two teaspoons of castor oil on empty stomach. If you find its taste weird, consume it with a cup of fresh juice. Within two hours, you would freshen up satisfactorily. However, do not follow this remedy regularly as it may have its own side effects.

  1. Fennel

Fennel seeds are another great remedy to treat constipation. It cures other digestion woes like indigestion, bloating and irritable bowel syndrome. Moreover, it helps in proper muscle movement of the digestive tract.

Just dry roast a cup of fennel seeds and then, grind them into a fine powder. Store this powder in a container in a cool and dry place. Consume half teaspoon of this digestive powder daily with a glass of lukewarm water.

  1. Honey

Honey is a universal healer both for skin and body. It basically acts as a mild laxative and therefore, is good for digestion. A daily consumption of honey not only cures constipation but also prevents it from happening any further.

All you need to do is consume one teaspoon of honey after each meal every day. Besides, you can add one tablespoon each of lime juice and honey in a glass of lukewarm water. Mix well and drink it on empty stomach every morning.

  1. Flax Seeds

Flax seeds are known to possess several health benefits; the most important one being aiding digestion. The presence of fiber and omega-3 fatty acids make it a great remedy for boosting the metabolic rate of the body, which further helps in curing constipation. Besides, flax seeds have laxative property, which is also essential for treating this digestive disorder.

Just add one tablespoon of flax seeds in a glass of water and  then, leave it aside for about three hours. Afterwards, drink this water before you hit the bed at night. You will find a difference in your bowel movement the next day. Make sure you follow this remedy regularly.
