December is a month of holidays, parties and celebrations. The celebration starts with Diwali in November and continues till the New Year’s Eve, we just need a reason to party and celebrate. Today, we will talking about one of my favorite things at the parties: dips. Dips are perfect for serving at a party, easy to make, great in taste and possible to serve a single serve. If you are bored of the regular dips like tomato sauce, mustard sauce, etc. Here are a few easy to whip but fancy to serve dips that would amaze your guests and make you a great host.

 

  1. 5 Layer Dip

 

This dip blasts a flavor of 5 ingredients in your mouth at the same time. It is a perfect dip to serve on a sports nights.

 

Ingredients

 

2 cups baked beans

2 avocados, mashed

Juice of 2 lemons

3-4 teaspoon cumin seed powder

1 cup tomato, chopped

1 cup onion, chopped

1/4 cup cilantro, chopped

1 cup sour cream

1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Salt to taste

 

Method

 

In a large mixing bowl, add the chopped tomatoes, onions, cilantro, juice of 1 lemon, cumin seed powder and salt. Mix it well and set aside for a while. This is a rendition of the famous pico de gallo.

 

In another bowl, put the mashed avocados, and add salt, pepper and lemon juice. Mix it well and keep it aside.

 

Take deep and transparent bowls, or mason jars, and layer the ingredients in the following order, baked beans, seasoned avocados, pico de gallo, sour cream, and cheddar cheese and you are done. Yes, it is that simple!

 

Serve with potato chips, french fries or nachos.

 

  1. Cheesy Spinach Dip

    This dip is perfect for a cold winter evening for your cheese loving friend.

 

Ingredients

 

4 cups loosely packed fresh baby spinach

1/2 cup cream cheese, room temperature

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 teaspoon garlic paste

1/2 teaspoon hot sauce of your choice

1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup mozzarella, shredded + more for topping

Salt and pepper

 

Method

 

Put the fresh spinach in a bowl with 1 tablespoon of water. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and microwave on high for 1 minute.

Remove from microwave, leave covered and let stand for 15 minutes to cool.

Drain the spinach properly and add to a medium bowl.

Add the remaining ingredients and mix until well combined.

Cover and refrigerate until needed.

 

Serve with bread, herb croutons or pita bread.

 

  1. Lasagna Dip

 

This is the fanciest dip of all the savory dips. Serving this dip at your party will make you the best and the most innovative host in your group.

 

Ingredients

 

4 cups cream cheese

1 1/2 cup ricotta

3/4 cup grated Parmesan

2 cloves garlic, chopped

1/2 teaspoon red chilli flakes

3 cup marinara

1 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella

1 1/2 teaspoon oregano

 

Method

 

In a slow-cooker, combine cream cheese, ricotta, Parmesan, garlic, and crushed red pepper flakes. Stir until combined.


Add marinara, mozzarella, and oregano. Cook on high for 1 hour or low for 2 hours, until bubbly.

 

Serve with garlic bread or breadsticks.

 

  1. Cookie Dough Dip

 

It’s holiday season and who doesn’t like to eat warm cookies in holidays? Also, who doesn’t like cookie dough? After all the savoury dips, here is a sweet dip for all the sweet teeth. This is a perfect sweet dip for the lovers of cookie dough.

 

Ingredients

 

1 stick butter, melted

1/3 cup brown sugar

3 cups cream cheese, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

pinch of salt

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

 

Method

 

In a medium bowl, stir together the melted butter and brown sugar.


Add cream cheese and whisk, constantly, until creamy.


Add vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.


Add powdered sugar and stir, then fold in chocolate chips.

 

Serve with pretzel chips, biscuits or crackers.
