Green tea is known for its energizing properties, delicious taste and innumerable health benefits. But did you know that it can also work wonders for hair and skin? This little potion in a packet can be used to treat many beauty problems from dark circles to damaged hair. All you need to do store up the packets of green tea in your kitchen and use it to feel amazing inside and out. Read on to find out the different ways that green tea can make a difference to your beauty care regimen.

  1. Acne

Green tea contains catechins which are known for their anti bacterial properties. Acne and pimples are caused due to bacteria and dirt which accumulates in the pores and causes breakouts. Green tea can help fight off the bacteria and restore your skin to its smooth and clear glory. The catechins also help to regulate hormones which can also be responsible for pimples in young adults. The anti-inflammatory properties of green tea work to remove the redness from the acne and even out the skin tone. To use it as an acne treatment, steep a tea bag in warm water and using a cotton ball apply the solution to the affected areas of your skin. After letting it dry on your skin for 10 minutes, wash it off with lukewarm water and pat dry. Following this method twice a day can lead you to smooth and acne-free skin.

  1. Hair Loss

Green tea is full of antioxidants which are known for their beneficial properties. They also help combat hair loss and stimulate the scalp and roots to encourage growth of healthier, thicker and shinier hair. The nourishing properties of the green tea also fight other common problems like dandruff and dry and itchy scalp. Wash your hair as usual and once you have rinsed out the shampoo and conditioner, pour warm water that is steeped with green tea on your scalp and along the length of your hair. Leave it on for ten to fifteen minutes and then wash it off with cool water. Let your hair dry naturally and you will soon start noticing a difference.

  1. Dark Circles

The tannins present in green tea act as an astringent which helps shrink the blood vessels around the delicate eye region to reduce puffiness and dark circles. It also has vitamin K which is an excellent remedy to lighten darkening under eye skin. After drinking your green tea, don’t throw away the tea bags. Keep them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes and then place the cold tea bags on your eyes. Let it sit for 15 minutes and do this twice a day till you start seeing results.

  1. Sun Damage

Daily exposure to the sun can start affecting your skin. The harsh UV radiation can cause many problems such as skin darkening, age spots and even damaged skin. The tannic acid and poluphenols in green tea soothe the skin and help it to heal after it has been sun burnt. The properties of green tea neutralize the effects of harmful UV radiation and can also protect against skin cancer. Steep 2 to 3 tea bags in warm water and allow the solution to cool in the refrigerator. Then using a soft cloth, apply the solution all over the sun burnt skin and wash off after ten minutes with cool water. Do this twice daily and you will feel immense relief from pain and redness.

  1. Dry Hair

Do you feel that your hair has become dry and lost its natural luster? To make your hair appear shiny and soft once again, use some green tea solution before your shampoo session. The high panthenol, Vitamin E and C content helps to keep the hair conditioned, soft and smooth. It also protects it from damage due to daily exposure to the sun and pollution.
