The infection can be extremely painful, cause stinging and burning while urinating and can cause very high fever. If not treated in early stages, the infection can spread to the kidneys and blood stream.

Let’s understand how UTIs happen. Contrary to the belief that UTIs are contracted from external sources, the infection is caused by bacteria inside the body. In majority of cases, the infection is caused by e-coli bacteria, which is found in our digestive tract. Due to poor hygiene or low intake of fluids, the bacteria can enter the urinary tract and cause infection. In some cases, these infections can happen due to obstructions in the urinary tract and bladder or kidney stones.

UTIs are usually treated with antibiotics, but such infections have a tendency to recur and the body may even become resistant to antibiotics. it becomes important to take preventive measure to prevent recurrence. Also, UTI is very common in pregnant women and since they are advised not to take antibiotics, home remedies are the safest cure.
