Our stomach secrets acids to digest the food we eat. When the stomach secretes more of these acids than required, thus leading to imbalance in of digestion acids in the body. This is the main cause of acidity in our body. Acidity leads to many other problems like gas, bad breath, nausea, indigestion. There are many medicines available in the market that claim to relieve you from acidity, but they might be replenishing the various layers of your stomach making it weaker and more prone to acidity. Thus it is advisable to avoid those medicines by all means. Just follow these simple home remedies to get rid of your acidity problems.

  1. Basil Leaves: Basil leaves carry great medicinal properties and are relieve us from many problems like acidity, gas, and even cough and cold. They are very cool in nature. All you have to do is chew four to five basil leaves thoroughly, this will help to sooth the acidity.
    2. Cinnamon: Cinnamon comes from the bark of a tree. It is proved to be great to aid digestion and works as a natural antacid to sooth your stomach. Grind cinnamon into powder and add it to a glass of water, bring it to a boil and allow it to steep. This is called a cinnamon tea, which works wonders to aid acidity. In addition to this, it also helps to improve your metabolism and helps in losing weight.
    3. Butter milk or curd: Butter milk and curd contains lactic acid which is alkaline in nature and helps to sooth your irritated stomach. You can also add flavouring to your butter milk which would rather help better to sooth your acidity. For instance you can add freshly grated ginger, and coriander leaves, along with cumin seeds and fennel seeds powder. This flavourful butter milk will prove to be an elixir for your acidity.
    4. Jaggery: Jaggery is made by processing sugarcane juice. It is warm in nature but helps to aid digestion. Jaggery is alkaline and when eaten reduces acidity. This perhaps is the reason why we are supposed to eat jaggery after a meal.
    5. Apple Cider Vinegar: You might be thinking that Apple Cider Vinegar contains large amount of acetic acid, then how would it help me to alienate my acidity, won’t it add to my existing problems. The answer is no. Apple cider vinegar has alkalising effect on the digestive system and hence it helps to treat stomach acidity. Just mix two tea spoons of apple cider vinegar into a glass of water and drink in after every meal.
    6. Fennel Seeds: Fennel seeds are cool in nature and aid digestion. Fennel seeds stimulate digestion and relax the digestive system very quickly, thus banishes your acidity in less than ten minutes. Now you know that we are not supposed to eat fennel seeds after a meal only because it is a mouth freshener but it also helps to digest your food.
    7. Cumin Seeds: Cumin seeds work great as acid neutraliser. They aid digestion and sooth the body from digestion problems like stomach pain and gas. Boil a tablespoon of cumin in water and drink it throughout the day to reduce the acidity. Drinking this water also prevents acidity. You can also have a mixture of cumin seeds, fennel seeds, coriander seeds and sugar, grind all of them together and mix it with water. Sip this water in small intervals
    8. Ginger: Ginger is one of the most medicinal roots that mankind has come across. It has great usages not only to aid digestion but also for hair, skin and sore throat. Ginger soothes acidity and helps you relieve from the problems instantly. You can chew on a couple slices of fresh ginger while suffering from acidity, or can have a cup of ginger tea. If you drink a spoonful of ginger juice regularly, it will prevent your acidity problems.
