Intake of oily and spicy food is a major cause of acidity in most people.   • Oatmeal: Oatmeal is rich in dietary fibers and perhaps one of the best foods that can help to control and even prevent acidity. The fibers in oatmeal absorb all the acidity of other foods that are consumed and thus help to prevent acidity. Oatmeal is a filling food and does not allow acid reflux to take place.

  • Ginger: Ginger is the best food that has been used since ages for treating acidity. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties that make it the perfect food to overcome and prevent gastrointestinal problems and acid reflux in people of all ages.

 

  • Baking soda: A spoonful of baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is an effective remedy for acid reflux. Baking soda is a base substance or alkaline in nature and neutralizes the acids in the stomach thus providing relief from heart burn that is caused by acidity.

This is because chewing gum activates the salivary glands and increases the flow of saliva. This saliva dilutes any acid that builds up in the gut or the digestive tract. Thus, extra acid gets washed off or cleansed off more quickly from the body. When acid gets cleared from the body, it helps to relieve the symptoms of acidity like heartburn and pain and thus helps to prevent and control acidity to a great extent.
