‘But I like coffee and hate tea’. If that is your preference, go decaf! Reputed institutions like Duke University Medical Center have found that drinking even 500 mg of coffee a day (an average of three 8-ounce cups) causes blood pressure spikes of 4 mmhg that lingered until bedtime; this is not good.

By tightening blood vessels and enhancing the effects of stress, drip coffee (8 ounces) contains 100-125 mg of caffeine while the same quantity of tea has only 50 mg. Because of the pressure this places on your heart, it pumps blood that much faster thereby increasing pressure. Coffee only exaggerates this effect and makes your heart pump faster.

Switch to decaf coffee or go for one of the organic coffees available on the market for the well-being of your heart.


Veggies and fruits that contain plenty of potassium is a good thing for those who are suffering from high blood pressure. A daily potassium level of 2000-4000 mg is a step in the right direction.

Here are some natural foods that bring that level of potassium to your diet: dried fruits like prunes and raisins, sweet potatoes, kidney beans, orange juice, honeydew melons, peas, tomatoes, bananas, potatoes, and cantaloupes.

Your blood pressure will drop so low you will find it hard to believe how such cost effective and wholesome methods could do what expensive medical procedures could not.
