Eyelashes add to the beauty of your eyes. Often scanty or thin lashes make your eyes look tired and dull.  That is why a lot of women apply mascara or wear fake lashes to add volume to their eyelashes.

Several factors contributing to thin lashes include genetics, age, nutritional deficiency, specific medical conditions, eye infection or hormonal changes. Also, constantly rubbing the lashes and not removing makeup can lead to thinning of lashes.

To get thick lashes, one needs to follow a healthy beauty regime for the eyes. Besides, there are several home remedies as well, which help in thickening of the lashes. Let us get to know about a few of them.

  1. Castor Oil

Castor oil has the ability to stimulate follicles and thus, ensure lustrous and voluminous lashes. Besides, it is also helpful in fighting micro-organisms that hinder growth of lashes.

Just take a clean blush of cotton ball and dip it in some castor oil. Now apply it on your lashes daily before hitting the bed. Adding a few drops of vitamin E oil also helps in thickening of lashes. After applying, let it stay for the entire night and then, rinse off the next morning.

Alternately, try mixing two tablespoons each of castor oil and aloe vera gel together. Apply it on your lashes with a clean piece of cotton. After keeping it for the entire night, rinse off the next morning. Follow this regime daily for about three months.

 

  1. Green Tea

Green tea is every girl’s beauty secret for sure. Owing to the presence of flavonoids, it boosts the growth of eyelashes.

Just steep a tea bag of green tea in a cup of hot water and then, allow it to cool down.  Then dip a cotton ball in this concoction and apply it directly on your lashes. After 15 minutes, rinse off well with cold water. Do it at least three times in a day. Stay cautious that the liquid does not get inside your eyes.

  1. Olive Oil

Olive oil is another great remedy to get thicker eyelashes and hair growth as well. Owing to the presence of vitamin E and oleic acid, it thoroughly nourishes the lashes and thus, boosting growth. It also makes the lashes dark.

Clean an old mascara stick or take a cotton swab. Dip any of these things in some olive oil and apply it on your eye lashes. Make sure you do it before hitting the bed. Let it stay applied overnight and then, wash it off with warm water the next day. Do it regularly for a few months for best results.

  1. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a wonder beauty product. It is used in several beauty and hair products. It is a rich source of vitamins and other nutrients, which stimulate hair growth. Besides, aloe vera ensures you’re your lashes stay moisturized.

Just scoop out some gel from an aloe leaf and apply it on your lashes using a clean, old mascara stick. Apply it before going to bed and then, wash it off the next warning.

Try another concoction by mixing one tablespoon each of aloe vera gel and jojoba oil along with one teaspoon of chamomile infusion. Dab some of it on your lashes two times in a day. Apply it with the help of a clean mascara stick. Wash it off after 15 minutes.

Follow this routine daily for about a few months to get thick and strong lashes.

  1. Lemon Peels

Lemon peels are a rich source of vitamin B, C and folic acid that boost the growth of eyelashes.

Just take one tablespoon of semi-dry lemon peels in a container. Pour some olive or castor oil into it. Leave it for a few weeks so that the peels get soaked in the oil completely.  Apply it using a mascara stick before hitting the bed. Wash it off the next morning.
