If I was to write a thesaurus, I would write spa as a synonym of pampering. Seriously! There’s nothing more pampering than a spa, people taking care of you, looking after you, doing their best to make you comfortable, what usually you do for other. It’s wedding season and this is another excuse for quick visit to a spa and get yourself pampered. But who has the time for it? Even though it’s your best friend’s or your cousin’s wedding, you have a lot of preparations to do! You have to clean the house, prepare for the guests, buy new clothes, shop! But what if I tell you that you can get a home spa and pamper yourself?  Sounds interesting right? Play your favourite music on your phone/iPod and get ready to be pampered.

  1. Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy calms and relaxes your body and mind. Just grab your favorite aromatic candles, light them up in your bathroom and let the magic happen. You can also add a couple drops of aromatic oil in your regular candles or oil diffuser to get the same effect. Besides, take a deep plate and fill it with water, add a few drops of your favourite aromatic oil, stir it, add a handful of rose petals, a couple flowers and floating candles and you are good to go.

  1. Scrub

Just take a quick shower to wet your body. This is important because scrub easily dissolves and reaches deep within the skin, thus helps you to relax and rejuvenate. The best thing about using a scrub is that it exfoliates your body and removes all the blemishes and dead skin from the body. Making it smooth, soft, supple and shiny.

  1. Massage

Your hands cannot reach throughout your body, but you can at least reach some of your body parts, like thighs and calves, one arm to another, you get the point. Just try to reach out all the parts, this will also improve your flexibility. (Bonus!) You can also use a wooden massager, that will smoothly glide on your skin. The benefit of massaging your body is that it enhances the blood circulation in your body, relaxes you, not to forget oil will moisturize your body, something very important for winters, on the other hand, a good massager will add the advantage of acupressure. For best results use a carrier oil and mix an essential oil that suits you the best.

  1. Cleanse

If you are one of those lucky people who has a bath tub this is the right time to use it. Fill it up with warm water and add some nice bath salt to it. Bath salts, elevate your mood, reduce the stress and tension so basically, they relax your body. Add some bubble bath to get a rich lather and luxurious bath experience. If you don’t have a bathtub, don’t fret over it, because most spas don’t have a bathtub either. This is just an additional step to cleanse your body (see at-home spas give you the flexibility to add to your pampering!) But I do have a solution for you, get a nice long shower with your favorite shower gel this will do the same things as a bath tub.

  1. Wrap

A body wrap tightens, brightens, moisturizes and above all polishes your skin. Skin polishing makes the skin shiny and shimmery. Apply an organic body wrap on your body and wrap it up with a cling wrap, a cotton bed sheet, a blanket or even a bathrobe. The idea is, you should be wrapped into something, that’s when a body wraps works the best. Wash it off after half an hour or wipe it away with a wet towel.

  1. Moisturise

The best way to moisturize is to use a body butter. A body butter is rich in texture, it gently reaches the deepest layers of the skin and moisturizes the skin without giving you a greasy look. Wrap up your soft bathrobe again, sit in a comfortable chair and relax, flipping the magazine pages and sipping your favourite drink.

All this will only take some time but will give you a great result, leaving everyone amazed as to amongst all the chaos, when did you find the time to visit a spa? What better way to surprise your family and friends, because I love surprises, don’t you?
