  1. Cures Dark Spots and Pigmentation

Citrus-based fruits, especially lemons, are very effective in healing dark spots, ageing marks and freckles. To get rid of them, all you need to do is apply a few drops of lemon juice on the affected area and let it dry. A regular application will help you in getting rid of these spots over a period of time. This is so because the citric acid present in lemons has bleaching and cleansing properties.

Just squeeze the juice of half lemon and dilute it with some water. Dab this mixture on your pimples with the help of a cotton ball. Once it dries up. Wash off with cold water. A regular application of lemon water will surely heal your pimples. Besides, you can also drink a glass of lukewarm lemon water on empty stomach every day. You can also add a spoon of honey to this liquid to enhance its taste. This helps in flushing out the toxins from the skin; thus preventing the occurrence acne.

Owing to the presence of citrus acid, lemons act as a natural bleaching agent. This property further helps in lightening the complexion of the skin. To use lemon, just take two tablespoons of lemon juice and three tablespoons of water together and mix well. Apply this liquid on your face and neck area. After half an hour, wash off with cold water. Do it on an everyday basis for a glowing and radiant skin. If you have dry skin, you can add a teaspoon of honey to this mixture. This will help in nourishing your skin as well.

Alternately, you can make another mask using juices of lemon, potato and tomato. Take equal quantity of all three juices and mix them with some sandalwood paste. Apply this concoction for about 20 minutes or until it dries. Later, rinse off with tap water.

Apply fresh lemon juice directly on your blackheads. The citric acid present in it acts on the production of oil, which lead to formation of blackheads.

To cure your discolored elbows, just rub some lemon rind on them. Do it regularly to lighten the dark and patchy skin on your elbows.

Just block your basin with its lid. Fill some water in it and add some lemon juice to it. Stir well and then, dip your finger fasteners into it. Let them soak in the goodness of this concoction for about 15 minutes. Later remove them and wash with normal water. Do it regularly before hitting the bed. This process helps in speeding up the growth of keratin and protein present in the fasteners; thus making them stronger.

Lemon is also known to possess nourishing properties. To make a lemon based moisturizer, just mix equal quantity of lemon juice and cream together. Mix well and apply it on your skin. Let it penetrate into the skin for about 20 minutes and then, rinse off with normal water. This will leave your skin soft and supple.

Lemon in all forms is a great exfoliating agent owing to the presence of citric acid in it. Be it lemon rind, zest, juice or the peel, all the parts are used in both commercial and homemade body scrubs. Lemons target the dead skin layer, thus promoting regeneration of new skin cell tissues. To make a lemon-based scrub, just add a few drops of lemon juice to a spoon of sugar. Gently rub this scrub on your skin in circular motion. Later, wash off with normal water.
