So you have been planning for this awesome vacation for months. Everything from clothes, things to do and reservations have been taken care of . The highlight of the trip is going to be the pictures of course, who doesn’t want to be photographed at the beach? Suddenly the whole world comes crashing; the ugly acne have raised their head, yet again!

Pimples and acne are the most common skin disorders among adolescents but can continue beyond teenage as well. They can appear on your face, back and neck and can be with or without pus. Pimples basically erupt when the oil glands in the skin get infected with bacteria and get inflamed. Over a span of few days they may get itchy and filled with pus. The first natural reaction is probably to head to the salon for a treatment or buy over the counter chemical creams and face masks. However, these things may not work. To cure acne from the root cause, one must understand why pimples and acne erupt.

Stress, unhealthy lifestyle, bad eating habits, etc can all be responsible for acne. But, the main underlying problem is hormonal imbalances. Therefore, one must use treatments which focus of curing the root cause naturally, without any side effects to the otherwise sensitive facial skin.

Here are a few simple home remedies which will help you get rid of pimples:

  1. Organic honey

Good old honey comes to the rescue again. Honey contains antibiotic properties which kill the acne causing bacteria and soothe the inflammation. You can mix honey with cinnamon powder to make an extremely soothing and effective face pack. Cinnamon contains antimicrobial properties and the combination of two is effective in removing acne from the roots.

To make the pack, mix one tablespoon of Organic Honey with half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Apply it on clean face and keep it on for a couple of minutes. Wash it off gently and pat dry with soft towels. Avoid rubbing the face with harsh towels as it may inflame the skin further.

You can also mix honey with homemade yogurt and apply this on the face to reduce the itchiness and burning sensation.

  1. Apple cider vinegar

Pimples are basically the result of overactive oil glands. So, an effective and lasting remedy is application of products that will cut the oil production and increase the alkaline nature of the skin. Apple Cider Vinegar is the perfect ingredient to solve the above mentioned purpose. It has astringent and antibacterial properties which are effective in controlling acne.

You can make a homemade astringent by mixing one tablespoon apple cider vinegar with four tablespoons of distilled water. Store it in a spray-top bottle and use it on the skin 3-4 times a day.

  1. Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil contains components which contain solvents. These solvents eliminate the dead skin and debris, open up open the skin pores and kill the bacteria nestled between the clogged pores. Tea Tree Oil is very strong and can irritate the skin, therefore it must be diluted with at least ten times the quantity of water and then applied on the skin.

  1. Aloe vera

Aloe Vera has a wonderful cooling effect on the skin. It also has antibacterial and antinflammatory effect which can bring much needed relief for skin suffering from acne.

Application of pure aloe vera gel can reduce irritation, penetrate pores and kill the infection causing microorganisms. Aloe vera works well on its own but can also be combined with other acne preventing ingredients like lemon and oranges.

While these things can provide much-needed topical relief, if you are suffering from excessive acne outbreaks all over the body, external applications may not suffice. A diet rich in vitamin C, fiber and minerals is recommended as it purifies blood, clears the digestive system and ensures sufficient supply of oxygen and nutrients to the skin through blood stream.

If acne still persist, a visit to dermatologist is advisable as it may be symptom of other disorders.
