Everyone love long, black, shiny hair. While some people struggle with dry scalp others suffer from the problem of greasy hair. Greasy or oily hair are as much of a problem as dry ones. While one can apply oil to dry scalp and treat it, treating greasy hair is not that easy. Oily hair look flat, unwashed, lifeless and dirty but after washing off the excess oil they look healthy and bouncy.

The best way to avoid it is to keep the scalp clean. Some people shampoo their hair everyday to wash off the extra oil from their hair, which is not very safe and advisable as the harsh and harmful chemicals from the shampoo can harm your hair and scalp. While the oil that our scalp secretes is very good and useful to keep the hair and scalp moisturised, excess of it is also problematic. Here are few home remedies to cure your greasy hair problem.

  1. Aloe Vera: Who ever discovered that Aloe Vera must be a genius. Had he patented the use of aloe vera, he would have been a multi billionaire rather zillionaire! But alas! Patents and copy rights did not exist when usage of aloe vera was discovered. The best thing about aloe vera is that it treats both dry and oily skins. If your skin is dry it will moisturise it, if it is oily, our good old aloe vera will help control the oil secretion. It detoxifies the scalp, removes the impurities and regulates the oil secretion. It also nourishes the scalp. Simply mix aloe vera gel and lemon juice and wash your hair with this mixture and soon you will observe controlled oil secretion from your scalp.
    2. Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple Cider Vinegar contains acetic acid which helps to maintain the pH of your scalp. This controls the oil secretion at your scalp reducing the excess oil from your head and giving you the non greasy look. Dilute apple cider vinegar with water and rinse your hair with this mixture after you have shampooed your hair. This works wonders to maintain the pH level at your scalp.
    3. Eggs: Using eggs to treat oily hair is a very old remedy. Eggs are rich in protein and amino acid. These, like the others about which we have read so far, help to maintain the scalp pH level and oil secretion. All you have to do is whip two eggs yolks and add a few drops of lemon juice to it. Apply them on your head and massage your head and scalp with it. Rinse and wash your hair after a while. Did you know, eggs double as conditioner for your hair?
    4. Lemon juice: Just like aloe vera, Lemon Juice also works for all types of skin types. Lemon’s acidic properties helps to maintain the pH level of the scalp and controls oil secretion. With these properties, I would like to say that lemon juice has the combined benefits of aloe vera gel and apple cider vinegar. Mix lemon juice with water and add honey if you like. Massage your scalp with this mixture and wash it off with water. Soon you will live your dream of soft, smooth and bouncy hair.
    5. Tea: Tea has an astringent called tannic acid. This tannic acid helps to control the secretion of excess oil in your scalp. It also helps to tighten the pores thus giving your hair stronger roots. All you have to do is, make your regular black tea but instead of drinking it, wash your hair with this black tea, of course after cooling it down for a while. You see your normal tea does more than just waking you up.
    6. : Henna is of great use to hair. It not only colours the hair, it is also a great conditioner. Take henna in a large bowl and mix it with one egg, add two table spoons or Coconut Oil and mix it well. Add water to this mixture to form a thick paste. Apply this paste on your oily hair, cover it with a plastic bag and leave for a couple hours. Wash your hair thoroughly with a mild shampoo.
I hope you would use these hope remedies to get rid of your oily and greasy hair and flaunt those bouncy and live hair.
