We all know how important it is to take off our makeup when we head to bed at night. Sleeping with products on your face can do a lot of damage to the skin. But sometimes it so happens that you have run out of your favourite makeup remover, and so you just wash your face and jump into bed. While you may think this is enough, it doesn’t effectively get rid of the residue and the chemicals stay on your skin overnight. Instead we have another solution, Almond Oil. Almond oil is a very nourishing lubricant and also an excellent alternative to makeup removers.

Benefits Of Using Almond Oil

Almond oil has multiple functionalities and greatly benefits health, skin and hair all together. It helps reduce sun damage to the skin and prevent signs of early ageing. Now you may be wondering how this can be used as a replacement for makeup remover. It’s quite simple. Most women buy makeup remover considering the harder to remove products such as kajal, eyeliner and mascara. The texture of almond oil is perfect to easily and conveniently remove these products while moisturising your skin at the same time. Chemical based makeup removers can dry out the skin over time, but almond oil has nourishing properties which improve the health and quality of the skin.

Almond oil is also one of the most natural products you can find. It seeps into the skin and removes the dirt trapped in the lower layers thus cleaning it thoroughly from the inside out. This deep pore cleansing process helps to eliminate dullness, lines, wrinkles and skin darkening which are considered symptoms of early ageing.

Due to its consistency and texture, almond oil spreads easily over the face and can be removed with a cotton ball. It does not leave behind any residue and prevents your skin from feeling oily or heavy. In fact it has intensive hydrating properties which can treat and heal dry skin and even more major conditions like psoriasis and eczema which cause the skin to get parched, cracked and infected. The saturated texture of the oil helps to soothe cracks and inflammation and give relief from dryness and itchiness of the skin.

Applying almond oil as makeup remover and leaving it on overnight can also work as an excellent night time skin care treatment which will reveal radiant and glowing skin next morning.

How To Use Almond Oil As Make Up Remover

Using almond oil as a makeup remover is not rocket science. All you need is a spoonful of oil, some rosewater and a cotton ball. Using your fingers, gently massage the oil onto your face and focus on the eyelids, under eyes, cheekbones and T-zone. You can apply a little pressure to give yourself a gentle facial massage so that the oil is properly absorbed by the skin. Next, dip a cotton ball in rosewater and use it to rub the makeup off. You can even moisten the cotton with regular water if you don’t have any rose water.

If you are wearing waterproof makeup, particularly waterproof mascara, take a few drops of oil on the cotton ball and then wipe the makeup off. If needed, cotton balls can be replaced with tissue paper dipped in almond oil as well. Once you are satisfied with the removal of makeup, wash your face with lukewarm water and pat dry to find your skin feeling soft and looking fresh and dewy.

Almond oil is an ingredient commonly found in most Indian homes and is very easily available as well. Just keep a bottle handy and you can use it as often as you like to easily rid your skin of makeup residue after a long hard day. When travelling, you can take a small quantity of oil in a miniature bottle or add a few drops to your moisturising lotion and use it as a versatile skincare product.
