Dark Underarms
Dark underarms are the result of excessive perspiration. A warm wet armpit accommodates the growth of bacteria, fungi and yeast which is responsible for darkening of the skin in that area. Heat, friction and moisture in the armpit cause dark skin. Health problems like obesity/diabetes, shaving of the underarms, using chemical based hair removal cream, alcohol based deodorants also adds to the problem. This is certainly a cause of concern for many. Easy to follow home remedies are the best solution to this problem with no side effects.
SYMPTOMS
Dark skin in the armpit area, itching, burning sensation, rashes, foul odor.
REMEDIES
Lemon- Lemon is known to have antibacterial and antifungal properties and is the best natural bleach. Rub half a lemon in circular motion in the affected area for 10 minutes. Leave it on overnight or for one hour before washing it off. Follow this every day continuously for 15 days to see the best results.
Potato-Potato is very effective in removing tanning. Apply juice of raw potato regularly. Keep it on till the juice is absorbed by the skin. Then wash it off with water. This will lighten the area naturally.
Cucumber-Take 3 tablespoon of cucumber juice, add 3 teaspoon of lemon juice, add one teaspoon of turmeric powder. Mix it well. Apply it on the affected area. Wash it off after 20 minutes.
Sandalwood (chandan) - Take two teaspoon of sandalwood powder. Add equal amount of rose water. Mix it well to make a thick paste. Apply this on the affected area.
Gram flour (Besan) –Take two teaspoon of besan, add two teaspoon of yogurt, add one teaspoon of turmeric powder. Make a paste. Apply it on the affected area. Leave it for 20 minutes before you wash it off with lukewarm water.
Sugar- Make a scrub from one tablespoon of honey, one tablespoon of lime juice and one tablespoon of sugar. Mix it well. Massage it gently on the affected area. This will exfoliate the dead cells and help in getting fairer underarm.
Baking soda- Mix one tablespoon of baking soda with few drops of rose water just enough to make a smooth paste. Massage it on the armpit to exfoliate the area.
Aloe Vera gel- Aloe Vera gel is a good moisturizer. Apply this on the armpit every night.
PREVENTION
Avoid using chemical hair removing creams.
Use threading instead of shaving. Hot natural wax is also safe.
Avoid deodorizers directly on the skin. Avoid tight clothing.
Wash your armpits and keep it dry before retiring to bed every night.
