Stretch marks are caused by the constant stretching of skin due to rapid growth. It is cause during weight gain or during pregnancy. It is usually associated with the hormonal changes that the body goes through. They are usually such marks which may diminish naturally or by using natural and organic methods but may not disappear completely.

They appear usually on the belly area, thighs, breasts, lower back, hips and buttocks. There may be many reasons for the stretch marks to appear:

  • Weight gain:

When a person gains weight, the skin stretches. Along with the expanding of the skin, there are hormonal changes in the body as well. This causes the stretch marks to appear.

  • Pregnancy:

During pregnancy the chances of the stretch marks to appear are very high. With a life growing inside you, your body reacts to the different physical as well as the hormonal changes and thus the marks begin to appear.

  • Puberty:

When a person attains puberty, the chemical mechanism inside the body changes. Thus the body reacting to it shows the marks.

Till today, researchers haven’t found any remedy that can totally prevent or remove the stretch marks. There are many organic methods that can help lighten the marks that are already present in the body.

  1. Oil:

If you decide not to use the organic oil for the treatment of your stretch marks, try using other oils that is readily available. These include olive oil, castor oil and vitamin E oils. Regular coconut oils can also be used by adding aroma oils to dilute them first. The oils can be mixed with body creams before applying or can be applied directly as well.

  1. Water:

When talking about natural remedies how can we not talk about water. It is important to keep your body well hydrated. When skin has enough water, the various problems are solved automatically including stretch marks. It is also suggested to lessen the intake of soda and coffee as they tend to lower the water content of the body.

  1. Lemon:

Lemon juice is acidic. It can heal or lighten the stretch marks. Rubbing lemon directly on the skin and letting the skin soak in the juice is the best remedy while treating you with lemon juice. If you continue doing this on a regular basis, results can be seen in a very short time.

  1. Sugar:

Sugar can be used as a scrub for the body. Mixing it with lemon juice and applying it to the affected area gives the best result. This helps in removing the dead cells of the skin. This method helps in removing the stretch marks drastically.

  1. Potato:

To lessen the stretch marks, potato is used. It is usually cut into halves and applied directly on the skin. The potato juice is then washed off after letting it dry.

Avoiding stretch marks:

Stretch marks can be avoided during the time of pregnancy. Here’s how:

  • Keep your body well-hydrated.
  • Anti-oxidant rich drinks like green or black tea can also be consumed.
  • Keep your skin moisturized.
  • Massage yourself regularly with oils during pregnancy.
  • Keep the body healthy by practicing yoga or short walks.

It is just a matter of healthy practices that can help prevent the stretch marks because once it is formed; it is not possible to remove it completely.
