To lose weight people go for dieting programs, nearly starving themselves in the process, but succeed in losing weight only for a short time, their weight bouncing right back. Losing and managing weight loss is not easy and needs determination, patience and commitment to maintaining healthy changes in lifestyles, incorporating exercise, eating healthy and cultivating a positive state of mind.

  • Aim for a Change in Lifestyle

If you are aiming for a permanent weight loss, then you will need to make a permanent lifestyle change for the better. Commit yourself to replacing the high-calorie foods with low-calorie but healthier alternatives, incorporate physical activity into your daily schedule, get good quality sleep and be positive. These lifestyle changes are what will help you to manage your weight permanently but in a healthy way.

  • Eat a Balanced Diet

Many people eat less in order to lose weight. But trying to lose weight with a low-calorie diet and cutting out groups of food such as carbohydrates and fat are not practical at all and can only lead you to chronic exhaustion and fatigue and health issues such as suppressed thyroid and immune system functions and adrenal stress. To maintain a weight loss routine, you need to balance your diet with healthy fats, lean proteins, whole grain foods and plenty of vegetables and fruits.

  • Eat Fruits and Vegetables: Fresh fruits and vegetables have high water content making you feel full without adding to your weight. Make your diet colorful with a variety of fruits such as oranges, strawberries, apples, plums and berries and vegetables like leafy salads and green leafy vegetables of all kinds.
  • Whole Grains are Healthy: Switch from refined grains to whole grains and consume oatmeal, whole wheat flour and pasta, brown rice, air-popped popcorn and multi-grain Consume all types and colors of fruits.

  • Eat Beans: All beans are good for your weight management diet. Include black beans, split beans, lentils, chickpeas and pinto beans by adding them to your soups, entrees, salads or as a dish on their own.
  • Drink Plenty of Water: Drinking water in place of coffee, alcohol or soda is an effective way of reducing your calorie intake.
  • Stay Active
  • Exercise Regularly: This is one of the essentials for effective weight management. It will help you to burn your calories and at the same time increase your metabolism. Exercise at least for 30 minutes 5 times a week. If you don’t have enough time, devote 10 minutes 3 times in a day which will have the same effect as a 30-minute workout.
  • Regulate TV Watching: Spending hours on the couch in front of the TV will not help you in managing your weight since you will burn fewer calories. If you have to watch some show, do some easy exercises like sit-ups, squats or jogging while watching it.
  • Get Your Sleep

If you deprive your body of sleep, it will be unable to maintain a healthy regular appetite as well as eating schedule. Inadequate sleep results in hormone imbalance and loss of appetite. While going to sleep, keep your room cool, dark and peaceful so that your body gets quality sleep.
