We often feel a tingling sensation or numbness in our arms and feet. These are for various reasons like sitting in a wrong posture, excessive pressure, extreme weather conditions, etc. While most of the times, this numbness or tingling sensation is gone within minutes of movement or change of posture. Just in case the problem persists longer than that, for hours or days you should consult a doctor because it is an indication that something else in your body is not functioning properly. You can also try few of these home remedies that will help you to overcome your arm and feet numbness.
1. Temperature Variation
We often feel numbness in one of our body parts when we are at an extremely cold place. Also, cool temperature numbs our bruises etc. So basically we can conclude that cool temperature numbs our body or adds to the numbness. So to reduce numbness we should increase the temperature. The best and easiest way to do that is use a warm compress. Warm compress, for starters focuses on a particular body part, secondly it increases the temperature warming up our veins and nerves, which improves the blood circulation in the body and eases numbness.
Most of the times temporary numbness is caused by lack of blood flow to that body part. We move and jerk our arms and feet, sometimes even try to walk with a numb foot to make a movement and regulate the blood circulation, but trust me that is something you should avoid if you don’t want to suffer a painful injury. This is because due to the numbness, we don’t understand in what pose we are standing or walking and on which part of the body is getting affected. Just one step wrong and you suffer from a serious muscle injury. Massage is one of the best-known remedies to improve blood circulation in the body. Just rub in your favorite massage oil between your palms and massage the affected area. For best results, it is advisable to use coconut or mustard oil.
3. Salt Water Bath
A salt water bath is not only fun and relaxing it is also medicinal. If you are suffering from numb feet or arms, try soaking the affected body part in a tub of warm water after adding half a cup of Epsom’s salt or your favorite bath salt. In case you don’t have one, don’t worry, you can also use rock salt or Himalayan rock salt to get a similar result.
4. Food Supplements
Lack of useful vitamins and nutrients like Vitamin B12 and magnesium is another reason for numbness in the body. You should include nutrient rich food in your daily diet or else you can also consume food supplement, most of the times, doing both is advisable. Food supplements are available in the market in various forms like capsules, energy drinks, energy powders etc. Just pick your favorite form and get going.
Turmeric for sure is one of the oldest remedies for a lot of problems. It is medicinal, antioxidant, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial in nature. It also purifies the blood and improves blood circulation by reducing the swelling on veins or arteries in the body which is one of the main reasons for numbness in a body part. To get the most out of turmeric, add a teaspoon of turmeric in a glass of warm water and drink it regularly. It will benefit you many ways.
Apart from being tasty, cinnamon carries great medicinal properties as well. I think it’s not a spice, it’s a herb. It has anti-inflammatory properties, helps to cure cardiovascular problems, lowers blood sugar levels and fights free radicles. Along with these characteristics, cinnamon also combats swelling and numbness in limbs. Simply adding cinnamon to your diet would help you cure and prevent numbness in your body.
