Heartburn is a burning sensation that is felt in the lower chest. It might last from a few minutes to a few hours. It starts with a chest pain and make its way up to the neck and throat. Though we call it a heartburn, it has nothing to do with the heart. There are multiple reasons for heartburn and there are numerous home remedies to treat heartburn, presenting a few of them.

  1. Honey

Generally people complain that all sweet and tasty things are unhealthy, but there is one great, tasty and healthy exception to the rule, it’s called honey. Honey has great medicinal values and is used as an alternative medicine. It is being used in Ayurveda since ancient times. Honey is a natural treatment for heartburn. As and when you start feeling the heartburn, consume 1 tablespoon of honey. This will give you an instant and lasting relief.

  1. Almonds

Most of the times, people eat almonds to improve their brain and memory power, but there is more to almonds than just brain and memory, it also helps to heal heartburn. Take a handful of almonds and chew them slowly and properly. Within 20-30 minutes, you will realize that the burning sensation due to your heartburn has reduced. If you have a tendency of heartburn, it is advisable that you should consume almonds after every meal.

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Like mango is the king of fruits, I think apple cider vinegar is the king of vinegars. While there are variety of vinegars available in the market, apple cider vinegar is the most beneficial and useful vinegar. You might argue that apple cider vinegar won’t soothe the heartburn as it contains acetic acid, but remember that, you should consume the apple cider vinegar after diluting it in water. This way you will benefit from the medical properties and the concentrated form of acid won’t harm you.

  1. Aloe Vera Juice

Aloe vera is anti-inflammatory in nature thus it helps to reduce the swollen organs. Drinking organic aloe vera juice will ensure a quick treatment for treating a really bad heartburn. It will reduce the pain and inflammation instantly and soothe the heartburn.

  1. Apple

Mango might be the king of fruits, but we all know that an apple a day keeps doctor away. Apple contains many nutrients and minerals that neutralize the acid in your stomach and relieve heartburn instantly.

  1. Chamomile Tea

Mostly, people drink tea to wake up in the morning, but these days, we find many options for teas in the market. Different teas have different benefits and if you suffer from heartburn, chamomile tea should definitely be your choice. Drinking chamomile tea will soothe and relieve your heartburn problem. Just brew some chamomile tea, add a tablespoon of honey to this tea and sip it slowly.

  1. Fennel Seeds

For years, we have been chewing on fennel seeds thinking that it is used as a mouth freshener. Well, it is indeed a mouth freshener, but at the same time, fennel is cool in nature. This property ensures that it prevents or relieves heartburn.

  1. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a very tasty and fragrant spice. It takes the flavor of the delicacy in which it is added to a different level, be it a simple coffee or a cake. Many people don’t know but cinnamon is a great home remedy to treat heartburn. Just add one tablespoon of cinnamon powder to a cup of boiling water, cover it and let it steep for 10 minutes. Strain the cinnamon tea, add half tablespoon of honey and drink it slowly.

We know that excessive secretion of digestive juices (which are acidic in nature) in the stomach, is the reason why we suffer from heartburn. Chewing on mustard seeds and swallowing it, along with a glass of water will surely reduce your heartburn in no time.

  1. Peppermint

Just like fennel seeds, peppermint leaves are also quite cool in nature. The menthol present in peppermint acts as the cooling agent which helps to relieve the heartburn quickly. You can either chew on peppermint leaves or consume peppermint oil. Add two drops of peppermint oil in 1 cup of water, mix it well and drink it.

Next time, if you suffer from heartburn, instead of rushing to the medical cabinet to find your antacid rush to your kitchen to find your perfect ingredient to treat the heartburn.
