With growing stress and unhealthy lifestyle these days, hair fall has become a common problem. There are several other factors that are responsible for its occurrence. Some of them include genes, poor diet and bad hair care routine. We cannot work on genetic factors but can definitely act on reasons related to our diet and lifestyle.

Besides a nutrition-rich diet, a good hair care routine is extremely essential. When we talk about a good hair care regime, oiling is very essential. Also, the kind of oil we use also plays an important part in preventing the problem of hair fall.

A good quality oil not only prevents hair fall but also provide deep nourishment to your tresses. So, let us have a look at a few herbal oils, which are beneficial for attaining shiny and lustrous locks.

  1. Coconut oil

Coconut oil is among the most popular oils used for good hair growth.  It penetrates deep inside the hair shaft and thus, prevents hair from losing its moisture. Since it acts as a sealant, your hair is less likely to suffer from any damage. Besides, coconut oil also prevents scalp infections. This is due to the presence of lauric acid in it that acts against viruses, bacteria and fungi.

All you need to do is massage some lukewarm coconut oil on your scalp and tresses. Follow this remedy twice a week and make sure that you use a generous amount of oil while applying. After its application, let the oil sit for around an hour and then, wash your mane with a mild shampoo. A regular use of coconut oil will leave your hair soft, shiny and thick.

  1. Olive oil

Since olive oil has a greater capacity of penetrating into the hair shaft than any other oil, it is great for preventing hair fall. It also possesses moisturizing properties, thus keeping your hair soft and shiny. The extra virgin olive oil in particular is rich in vitamin E and monounsaturated fatty acids, which help in boosting good hair growth.

Just apply some lukewarm olive oil on your hair from tip to root. Then massage your hair gently and allow the oil to sit for an hour. Later wash off with a mild shampoo.

  1. Almond oil

Sweet almond oil too is quite effective in reducing hair fall owing to its softening properties. Besides, it is a rich source of vitamin D, E calcium and magnesium and therefore, acts as a natural moisturizing agent. These nutrients protect your hair from becoming dry and brittle.

Slightly heat almond oil and massage your tresses with it. Once the oil penetrates deep inside, leave your hair for a few hours. You can apply the oil before going to bed and then leave it overnight. Afterwards, wash your hair with a mild shampoo.

  1. Lavender oil

Lavender oil is another great essential oil effective in treating hair woes, be it breakage, nits or lice. It boosts circulation of blood and has an anti-bacterial effect on the scalp, thus keeping your locks free from infections. This way it boosts hair growth.

All you need to do is take a few drops of lavender oil and mix it with a base oil like coconut or olive. Mix well and apply the solution on your strands. You can do a daily oil massage.  Alternately, make your own lavender oil by taking some olive oil in a bottle. Now drop in a few sprigs of lavender in it. Let the oil absorb all the aroma for at least a month and then the oil is ready for use. Massage your hair with this oil and keep it overnight. Wash off the next morning.

  1. Castor oil

Castor oil also possesses nourishing properties and therefore helps in preventing hair loss. It also contains anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which keep scalp infections at bay.
