Male fertility has become a big problem owing the increasing less of stress and unhealthy sedentary lifestyle. Therefore, the quality and production of sperm count has drastically fallen down. As per World Health Organization, usual concentration of sperm in a male is a minimum of 20 million per milliliter of semen. If the sperm count goes down than 15 million, it is considered low and is known as oligozoospermia.

This problem happens due to several problems, such as hormonal abnormalities, infection in the prostate gland, infected semen, enlargement of veins within the scrotum, damaged sperm ducts, cigarette smoking, alcohol and drug abuse, medications and exposure to heavy metal and radiation. Moreover, researches have shown that habits like keeping laptop on the lap and cell phone in the pant pocket can lead to a low sperm count.

Well, besides medications, there are several types of foods available which can help in boosting the count of sperms naturally. Let us get to know about a few of them.

  1. Green Tea

Several researches suggest that the presence of antioxidants in green tea is related to boosting male fertility. This is so because antioxidants they help in neutralizing the effect of free radicals, which are responsible for damage of sperm cells.

A 2012 study published in journal Molecular Nutrition and Food Research showed that green tea consist of a compound called epigallocatechin gallate, which helps in improving the sperm quality. So, drink at least two cups of green tea regularly to stay fit and thus, boost fertility.

  1. Maca Root

Maca root, particularly of the black variety, is known to improve the production of sperm and boost motility. It is basically a herb, which helps in balancing the hormones related to fertility.

To consume it, take about three teaspoons of maca root in two equal doses for a few months on a regular basis. Either add these roots to a glass of water, smoothie or protein shake. You can consume it in whichever way you like. Begin by consuming half teaspoon and then gradually increase its dosage.

  1. Ashwagandha

A 2013 India-based research published in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine proved that ashwagandha root extract is really helpful in increasing sperm count, its quality and motility. The subjects of this study were asked to consume 675 mg of ashwagandha root extract in three equal doses for about three months.  Moreover, this herb helps in promoting production of healthy testosterone.

All you need to do is add half teaspoon of ashwagandha powder in a glass of warm milk. Consume it at least two times in a day for about three months.

  1. Panax Ginseng

Panax ginseng, often referred to as Korean ginseng, is basically added in traditional Chinese medicine to ease stress. This is also used to boost the production of testosterone, and increase sperm count and motility. This Korean ginseng is also helpful in curing erectile dysfunction.

Take around one to three capsules of 500 mg each of Panax ginseng. Do it daily for about three months. However, do not forget to consult your doctor before starting any type of supplement.

  1. Garlic

Garlic is a wonder spice for sure. It is a natural aphrodisiac and helps in increasing the sperm count. It consists of a compound called allicin, which not only boosts endurance of sperm and also increases blood circulation. Just consume one to two raw garlic cloves every morning on empty stomach.
