Now that winter is almost here, we know that a few other things might accompany the weather like a cough and cold, clogged nose which might lead to an earache or ear infections. A toothache or infection might be another reason for an earache. An aching ear is painful for many reasons for apart from pain there are many other things that irritate you. You cannot hear things properly, you cannot sleep on that side are just to name a few. If you are looking for things that will help to alleviate your ear ache, do not look on the internet, look inside your house. Here are a few home remedies which will soothe your ear ache with things lying around in your house.


  1. Temperature Variation


Most of the times when people are in pain, the best way to soothe the pain is temperature variation. Depending on what kind of pain you are suffering from, the remedy as to whether to heat things up or cool them down depends on. Mostly, bleeding, bruises, burns etc are treated with cold temperatures. But if you are suffering from a muscular or rather any kind of pain, most of the time, heating things up work. A warm compress is one of the best and safest remedies for temperature variation. People often use hot water bags or warm pans but these might turn dangerous as a hot water bag might leak and make things wet and burn your skin or a directly touching the hot/warm pan might  burn you. This is why I suggest you to buy a compress. The best part about a compress is that it can be used to vary temperature either way, be it hot or cold.


  1. Herbal Tea


While applying heat from outside helps to alleviate your ear ache proving heat or rather warmth from inside helps too. You can drink any herbal tea like green tea, oolong tea, chamomile tea, peppermint tea or even ginger tea. Each of these teas have their own uniqueness and carry great medicinal properties. Like green tea and oolong tea are rich in antioxidants, chamomile tea calms you down, and helps to relieve stress, ginger is hot in nature, it also helps to reduce inflammation in the body being anti-inflammatory in nature. So next time you are suffering from an ear ache, soothe it with sipping your favorite flavor of the tea.


  1. Apple Cider Vinegar


Apple cider vinegar is like a magical potion. It helps to treat almost everything I know about. Just drop a couple drops of apple cider vinegar in your infected/aching ear and let it be there for one minute. Empty it out of your ear and clean the outer surface of your ear with a clean cloth or cotton swab. Do this procedure twice daily, till the time you are relieved of your ear ache.


  1. Garlic Oil


Garlic oil is one of the oldest remedies for ear ache. You can make this in advance and keep it handy, just in case. Trust me, this works like magic. All you need for this oil is any regular odorless vegetable oil, like olive oil finely chopped garlic cloves or garlic paste and eucalyptus essential oil. Pour the olive oil or the vegetable oil of your choice in a deep pan and add finely chopped garlic to this oil. Cook it for a long time, till the oil gets the flavor and fragrance of garlic. Let it cool. Strain the and squeeze out all the oil from the chopped garlic cloves. Add a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil to this oil infusion and drop it in your ear. You can also warm it up a little before dropping it into the infected/aching ear.


Now you know that next time when you suffer from an ear ache simply pressing or rubbing it with your hand is not enough, try pressing a warm compress or rubbing it with garlic oil and you will feel better sooner.
