Bleeding in the nose, referred to as epistaxes in medical terminology, is quite a common ailment. Basically, the inner part of the nose has tiny blood vessels and therefore, is one of the most sensitive parts of the body. In case these vessels get damaged, the nose starts bleeding. It can happen in one or both nostrils. The bleeding ranges from light or heavy and can last from a few seconds to more than five minutes. This bleeding is often accompanied with other symptoms like weakness, confusion, dizziness and fainting. The problem of nose bleeding is quite common among children between the age group of ages 2 to 10 and adults above the age of 50. There are several factors that lead to nose bleeding, such as dry air, frequent nose blowing, allergic reactions, exposure to chemical irritants, nose injury, repeated sneezing, excess heat, hard scratching or picking the nose, high altitudes, alcohol abuse and excess smoking. Nose bleeding can also occur due to nutritional deficiencies, upper respiratory infections, hormonal changes during pregnancy, high blood pressure and blood clotting disorders. This ailment can be easily treated at home with few simple natural treatments. Let us take a look at a few of them.
  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is quite an effective remedy in healing nose bleeding instantly. This is because apple cider vinegar prevents the body from excess blood loss. It also seals the wall of the broken blood vessel. Just take a small cotton piece and soak it in some apple cider vinegar. Now place it gently in your nostril and then leave it for about 10 minutes. The bleeding will stop automatically. Besides, you can also use distilled white vinegar in place of apple cider vinegar. Try another concoction in case you face frequent nose bleeding. Just mix two teaspoons of unfiltered apple cider vinegar in a glass of lukewarm water.  Drink this concoction thrice a day.

  1. Coriander

As per Ayurveda, coriander too is helpful in stopping nose bleeding. This is because it provides a cooling and soothing effect and thus stops bleeding within minutes. Also, coriander acts as a natural antihistamine and therefore, helps in warding off several types of allergies that lead to nosebleed. All you need to do is pour a few drops of coriander oil or coriander juice in the inner lining of the nose. This will stop the bleeding immediately. All you need to do is chew a few fresh basil leaves on a daily basis. This remedy will surely calm your nerves and thus stop bleeding. Try another remedy by extracting the juice of few tulsi leaves. Now pour a few drops of this juice in the bleeding nostril for quick healing.

  1. Cayenne

Another great treatment to stop nose bleeding is cayenne. It basically works as a stimulant of cell and thus, regulates the pressure of the blood flow. This implies that it stops the pressure of blood from the hemorrhaging area and therefore, allows instant coagulation. Just add one teaspoon of cayenne powder in a cup of lukewarm water and then drink it. The nose bleeding will stop in some time. Those who suffer from frequent nose bleeding can consume cayenne capsules thrice a day on a regular basis. However, do consult a doctor before consuming them. Also, adding cayenne pepper in regular cooking can help in reducing frequent nose bleeding.

  1. Onion

Onion helps in blood clotting and therefore, is useful in stopping nose bleeding effectively.Cut one onion into slices. Now place one onion slice under the nostril and inhale its smell. The bleeding will surely stop within minutes.
