Pink eye is a medical condition, usually popular as Conjunctivitis. The condition is generally caused by harmful bacteria, virus or a certain type of allergy.In case it is a bacterial infection, it affects both the eyes and results in pus draining from the eyes. Besides, a viral infection affects one eye first and then moves on to the other after a few days. In this infection, the discharge from the eyes is clear and watery. However, be it viral or bacterial, this infection is highly contagious.Last but not the least, an allergic conjunctivitis causes symptoms like watery discharge. But this infection is not contagious. It can occur due to several types of allergens, such as pollen, dust mites, smoke, air pollution, makeup and or eye drops.We have listed down a few remedies for you that can help in curing this ailment naturally. Take a look at a few of them.
  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a powerhouse of anti-microbial, essential for fighting infections such as pink eye. Moreover, the presence of malic acid in unpasteurized apple cider vinegar is quite helpful in combating bacterial infections.Take two teaspoons of organic apple cider vinegar in one cup of filtered water. Now dip a cotton swab in this solution and wipe your eye with it. Do it at regular intervals for around three days. Besides, you can also use this solution as an eye drop.

  1. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is another universal healer that contains astringent and antibiotic properties. Therefore, it is quite effective in curing Conjunctivitis.Just soak a few chunks of fresh aloe vera gel in a cup of boiled and then cooled water. Once the color turns pale green, blend these chunks in the same water.Now put a few drops of this solution in the affected eye, at least three times in a day. Besides, it serves as great eyewash as well.

A concoction of lukewarm milk and honey is great for providing relief to a pink eye naturally. This is because milk is known for its soothing effect and therefore, it reduces inflammation. Honey, on the other hand, contains anti-microbial properties.Just take a tablespoon of milk and heat it slightly. Now add a similar quantity of organic honey in it. Mix well till the mixture becomes smooth and flowy. Now add three drops of this mixture in the infected eye with the help of an eyedropper. Repeat it a couple of times in a day. You can use this remedy as a warm compress too.However, if this infection has other symptoms like pain, sensitivity to light and disturbed vision, do consult a doctor immediately.

  1. Cold or Warm Compress

A cold compress or warm compress is helpful in easing various symptoms of pink eye, such as itching and swelling. It is especially helpful in case it is caused by an allergic reaction. Both types of compresses do not let the water get discharged from your eyes and thus, prevent drying.Talk a clean piece of cloth and soak it in either hot or cold water. Then squeeze out the excess water. Now place this cloth on the affected eye for about 10 minutes. Follow this remedy four times in a day. Make sure that you not use the same cloth for the other eye.

  1. Black Tea

Black tea contains tannins, which are responsible for reducing itching and inflammation. Therefore, it is a great remedy for pink eye. Besides, the presence of bioflavonoids in it combats both viral and bacterial infections.Take a used tea bag and place it in the refrigerator to chill. Once cooled, place it on your eyelid for about 10 minutes. Repeat it thrice a day. You can also use green tea or chamomile tea bags in place of regular tea.
