  ACIDITY

Acidity is the body’s reaction wherein, accumulation of acid leads to burning sensation in the stomach & digestive tract. The stomach produces acid at regular intervals to aid digestion. If meals are not taken on time or there is excessive stress then the stomach produces more acid which results in acidity.

SYMPTOMS

Burning sensation in the digestive tract, Headache, Acid reflux, Dizziness, Nausea.

REMEDIES

Kokum (Garcinia Indica) - Kokum sherbet sprinkled with jeera helps in controlling acidity.

Mint – Prepare fresh mint juice or boil fresh mint leaves in one cup of water to be taken after meals as a remedy for acidity.

Ajwain (Carom seeds) – Eating few seeds of ajwain after meals will help in reducing acid reflux.

Saunf ( Fennel seeds) – It is a popular custom in India to offer saunf to guests as after meals digestive. Saunf can be boiled & steeped in water, this water is to be strained and given to babies to relieve colic pain.

Lemon – Lemon juice made with 1 lime & half a glass of water, ½ teaspoon of sugar added to it and consumed before meals helps to relieve acidity.

Banana – Eating banana a day helps keep acidity away. Banana helps in relieving heartburn due to its natural antacid effect on the body. 

PREVENTION

Do not consume Tea, Coffee & Carbonated Beverages on an empty stomach.

Fermented foods, toor/arhar dal, acidic fruits on an empty stomach.

Avoid eating pickles, canned & preserved foods, and vinegar regularly.
