We all have a slight obsession with oil; the only difference is that people pour, drizzle or splash oil. Any way the health benefits will be the same unless these are consumed more than the required amount. There are many different types of oils that can be used to treat a particular problem in the body.

There are numerous types of oilsHere is a list of the very commonly used oils along with their health benefits-

 

Coconut oil-

  • First of all, it is great for use in cooking, as it is 90 percent saturated fat. It can be stored for years without spoiling. It fights off viruses, balances cholesterol, and even aids in weight loss.
  • Coconut oil also has wonderful medicinal properties; it not only has antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties, but has unique properties that make it an efficient fuel source for the human body.

Benefits: Boost immunity; reduces inflammation, fights bacteria/fungus/infections/viruses, softens and moisturizes the skin, assists in weight loss and increases mental clarity.

Uses: Skin moisturizer, natural deodorant, makeup remover, teeth whitener, hair smoothing serum and conditioner, massage oil and personal lubricant.

 

Grapeseed oil-

  • The oil of grape seed is a good source of vitamin E and oleic acid, a fatty acid that has been shown to significantly decrease the risk of stroke. Cold-pressed grapeseed oil has a rich profile of vitamin E and oleic acid.
  • Some studies suggest that the regular ingestion of grapeseed oil can repress the development of certain cancers. The antioxidants in grapeseed oil are powerful enough to protect the skin against UV radiation
  • Benefits-Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-aging and antimicrobial.
  • Uses-Useful in the treatment of many health ailments, including arthritis, sunburn, chapped lips, hair loss, hypertension, high cholesterol levels and diabetes.

 

Avocado oil-

  • Avocado oil is filled with fats that are required for a healthy heart; it is proven to reduce cholesterol numbers.
  • This oil also contains antioxidants that improve eye health. It is great ingredient for cooking at high temperatures.
  • Avocado oil is high in a compounds are used to reduce the appearance of aging spots. It also contains vital nutrients for skin and hair.
  • It facilitates the healing of wounds and is effective in the treatment of skin conditions such as eczema. 
  • Benefits: Lowers blood pressure; boosts the absorption of the required vitamins from food, improve arthritis symptoms, treat skin conditions and prevent gum disease.
  • Uses: Hair mask, skin moisturizer, mouthwash and cooking oil.

Almond oil-

  • Almond oil is rich in fats that are essential for a healthy body. Almond oil is also rich in magnesium, and vitamins A, B and E, as well as omega-3 fatty acids.
  • These oils are a great conditioner and moisturizer for both hair and skin, as these contains moisture-sealing properties that will keep the hair and skin hydrated and glowing.
  • It not only repairs split ends, but also prevents hair from future breakage.
  • Benefits: lowers body cholesterol, regulate blood pressure, reduce inflammation, relieve itching and redness, regenerate skin cells, improve blood circulation, tighten dull skin, boost immunity, aid digestion and prevent hair loss.
  • Uses: Remove dark under-eye circles; remove makeup; treat chapped lips; leave-in conditioner, hair serum; relieves joint and muscle pain.
Oils contain more amounts of nutrients and vitamins that we all consume in a day. With the proper oil even the worst of health conditions can be restored and that is why Ayurveda medicinal treatment which is said to cure the worst of diseases uses oils.
