Has your hair fall problem increased after you have started using synthetic hair dyes? Do you want a natural solution to colour grey hair that does not affect your hair and scalp adversely? If your answer is yes to these questions then the only solution is to switch on to Organic Henna.

Organic henna is the perfect solution for this! Not only is organic henna ideal for you to colour your hair in an orange-red colour, it also conditions your hair and prevents breakage. There are 5 benefits of using organic henna for hair color.

  1. Organic Henna contains hennotannic acid in addition to lawsone that act as a natural colouring agent. When mixed with hot water and applied, they coat the hair strands. Henna also contains a number of other active ingredients in terms of gallic acid, tannic acid and mucilage. Henna helps to prevent hair damage due to harmful ultraviolet radiation. It also has bactericidal, fungicidal and astringent qualities. Along with treating dandruff, psoriasis and eczema, it also promotes hair growth.
  2. When you apply henna to your hair, it seals the oil within your hair and scalp and also tightens the hair cuticle thus making it more nourished and strong. The end result is, that you are able to see that your hair is shinier and healthy after conditioning with henna.
  3. Another benefit of using henna as your hair colouring agent is that it does not adversely change your hair colour. It is rather mild when it comes to colouring and thus it looks very natural! Also, the hair colouring effects last for about three months.
  4. Not just this, applying organic henna to your scalp has a very nice cooling effect. It helps to regulate body heat by removing excess. It also acts as a relaxant and helps to induce proper sleep in many when applied on the scalp.
  5. Henna is known to slow down hair greying and is safe to be used by pregnant women also.

Organic henna does not contain harmful chemicals!

Many other henna products that are synthetically produced as hair dyes and also those products that claim to use natural henna essence add silver nitrate, carmine, pyrogallol, disperse orange dye, and chromium in pre-mixed dyes.

The problem with using the products containing these chemicals is that they are highly capable of causing inflammatory reactions and chronic allergic conditions. Many of these reactions could also be late onset reactions that are not seen immediately. These have posed intolerance issues and allergic reactions in many after they use hair setting and styling products.

Black henna is not henna!

It is a common misconception that black henna is made from henna. In reality it is derived from indigo and could also contain a number of harmful chemicals. It stains hair and skin in black colour quickly. However, it is known to cause adverse reactions also. Partly fermented indigo dye or black henna could be mixed with organic henna to dye the hair black.

People prefer black henna thinking it is a natural variant of henna that stains their black instead of orange. Mostly, products selling black henna for dying contain para-phenylenediamine which is a harsh chemical that could cause very adverse side effects that last for long.

How to use organic henna for hair colouring?

If you would like to have the orange-red colour dying, take three spoons of organic Henna powder and mix with three tablespoons of hot water to form a paste. You need not add any additives to this paste. You can directly apply this mixture to your scalp and hair.

You need not be worried about henna being applied to your scalp since it heals the scalp and treats dandruff issues if present. As for your hair, it conditions hair strands, prevents breakage, cures split ends and restores healthy shine and strength.

I would recommend that you add a tablespoon of Lavender Oil to your henna paste since it has a very soothing effect. You could also add a tablespoon of tea tree oil to it or a teaspoon of peppermint oil. The essential oils also make your hair smell nice and fragrant after you wash your hair.  Add one squeezed lemon juice to the henna paste since it is helpful in treating dry scalp and excess sebum production in the scalp.

Things to Remember

  • Remember to wear gloves while you apply the henna paste to your hair if you don’t want your hands to turn orange.
  • Once you have applied the henna paste lavishly to your hair, wear a shower cap and allow it to remain untouched.
  • Make sure to wash your hair within half an hour of applying the paste if you only want the conditioning and scalp-treating effects and do not want to dye your hair too strongly.
  • For dying hair in orange colour, retain the application for about two hours before washing with warm water.

A dusky and dull looking green colour is the ideal colour for henna hair colouring agents. A bright green colour or black colour could also mean that there are additives to the henna powder that you have to explore and figure out.
