The prevention of cancer has many, many articles for itself, but in this article we're going to focus on what you should be eating when you already suffer from the dreaded disease.

Choosing a diet and then carrying your changes out can be difficult when you're being treated for cancer. One lacks the appetite to eat, then why alter the diet at all? It's unfortunate, but it necessary for the individual to keep his intake steady and healthy, so a good diet should be a part of your treatment.

A cancer patient's most important requirements are calories, nutrients and sufficient fluids. The other elements of a good diet can be rounded off with the general foods that one consumes every day. The foods listed below provide for all the necessary requirements when you have cancer. Don't rush into a new diet. Ease yourself into it and you'll be doing your stomach a favour. If you find that some foods don't agree with you, then try to find an alternate food item that provides the specific nutrient.

Again we state how important it is that you consult a doctor before you go through with a new diet. You don't want to make things more difficult for yourself later. We also wish you the best if you, or someone you know, suffers from this dreadful disease.

Here is a list of cancer-fighting foods:

  1. Whole Grains

Whole grains is good for you regardless of whether or not you suffer from a serious illness. This is because they are rich in fiber and fiber aids digestion and cleans your digestive system out. If you're constipated, a little oatmeal or a plant-based food will bail you out swiftly.

Whole grains also contain a lot of carbs and vitamin B, which give you the energy which cancer treatment saps away. Starting the day with a bowl of oatmeal will make you feel much stronger during the day.

The jury's still out, but it has been said that eating adequate amounts of fibre can prevent the many digestive cancers, including stomach and mouth cancer.

Cancer is a very tough disease to be fighting. You need all the assistance you can get, even a change in a dietary pattern. You'll find all sorts of information on cancer-preventing and cancer-resistant foods out there on the internet, so it's important that you use your judgment when making a selection. As always, speak to your doctor before undertaking anything. You never know what complications could arise.

By itself, a diet pattern won't affect the outcome of your cancer. But it will make your life a little bit better and may - we stress that there is only a possibility - positively influence your cancer and curtail it.
