It is very essential to take care of the feet as these carry us long distances. The feet lack oil glands and therefore tend to dry up more quickly as compared to other body parts. The feet may also get swollen and may even endure several other problems if these are not taken care of in a proper manner. There are several foot care products that can be used for keeping the feet healthy. The best way to keep the feet healthy is to keep them moisturised and healthy so that they do not develop cracks and fissures because of excessive dryness. In addition to using the several foot care products, there are several essential oils for feet that can be used to keep them healthy.

The following oils can be used for keeping the feet healthy:

  • Olive Oil: The use of live oil for foot care is not new. Olive oil is one of the best oils that can be used to keep the feet moisturised and healthy. Olive oil contains vitamins and minerals that promote the foot health. It also acts as a natural disinfectant and so keeps the feet free from infections. The various anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of olive oil help to keep the feet free from infections and also reduce swelling and pain in the feet.

  • Tea Tree Oil: Tea tree oil is a disinfectant and also has powerful antiseptic properties. Tea tree oil can be used to prevent several types of infections of the feet. It can be used to heal injuries and wounds of the feet. Tea tree oil with its anti-fungal properties also prevents the feet from fungal infections, rashes and warts. The use of this oil is one of the most effective ways of treating athlete’s foot. Tea tree oil also reduces pain, burning sensation and swelling in the feet thereby keeping the feet healthy.
  • Chamomile Oil: Chamomile oil is also known to keep feet healthy and free from infections. Chamomile oil contains azulene which has anti-inflammatory properties and thus help to reduce swelling and pain in the feet. Chamomile oil can also be used effectively on feet to reduce the effects of insect bites.
  • Lavender Oil: Lavender oil can be used for treating swelling in the feet, ankles as well as in the legs. Lavender oil has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal as well as anti-inflammatory properties that help to prevent the feet from several types of infections and keep the feet healthy. Lavender oil also keeps the feet moisturised thereby preventing dryness and problems related to dry feet.

  • Peppermint Oil: Peppermint oil is the most used oil for foot care. Peppermint oil has anti-fungal properties that keep the feet from fungal infections of various types. The use of this oil also helps to sooth the sore skin of the feet. Peppermint oil also helps to prevent ulcers of the feet.
  • Eucalyptus Oil: Eucalyptus oil is known for its anti-bacterial properties and can be used as foot care oil. The use of this oil helps to keep the feet free from infections caused by bacteria. Eucalyptus oil also has soothing and calming effects and can be applied on sore feet to reduce pain and any other disturbing sensation. When massaged, eucalyptus oil helps to sooth sore muscles of the feet and prevents swelling of the feet.
  • Coconut Oil: In addition to having several other benefits, coconut oil can also be used for foot care. Coconut oil contains several anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals that promote the health of the feet. Coconut oil keeps the feet moisturised and therefore prevents dryness and problems associated with dryness. The use of coconut oil also prevents the feet from several types of infections.
  • Patchouli: Patchouli is natural oil that can be used to keep the feet healthy. Patchouli has several anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties that help to keep the feet free from infections and helps in repairing damaged feet. The anti-fungal properties of the oil kill infection causing fungi and keep the feet clean and healthy.
