Every second person is allergic to something or the other, be it pollen, egg, dust, gluten or any vegetable. Ideally, there is no cure to most of the allergies. And, experts generally suggest people to avoid substances to which they are allergic.

However there several kitchen ingredients, which can be helpful in treating allergies or rather providing immediate relief in some of them. So, let us take a look at them. You never know, which product works for you in the need of the hour.

  1. Apple cider vinegar

This for sure is an age-old remedy is providing relief from allergies. It is especially used in allergies related to heartburn. Studies suggest that apple cider vinegar has the ability to lessen the mucous production and therefore, clean the lymphatic system of the body. Therefore, it aides digestion and thus, keeps you safe from stomach related allergies. To use it, just take a spoon of organic apple cider vinegar and mix it in a glass of water. Drink it three times in a day.

  1. Raw honey

As per researches, it is concluded that consuming raw honey helps in boosting immunity and thus helping you adapt well to the allergens in your surrounding environment. Also, consuming it does not have a side effect as well.  For it usage, all you need to do is savour a teaspoon of raw honey every day. Try incorporating it in your drinks and food as well.

  1. Peppermint tea

Allergies related to nose can be healed through peppermint. If you consume a cup of hot tea, clogged-up nose and irritated mucous membranes get some relief. And, if peppermint is added to it, it further helps in healing. Also, the peppermint essential oil is known to be a decongestant and has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. To make peppermint tea, just add a few leaves in boiling water. Inhale for instant relief. Once the concoction cools down a bit, strain it and add some honey. Drink this tea for immediate relief.

  1. Citrus drink

Vitamin C present in various citrus drinks has anti-bacterial properties and therefore, is known for providing relief in several types of allergies. Besides this, the vitamin also boosts the immune system, thus developing resistance. To prepare a citrus drink, all you need is juice of half a lemon and two oranges. Mix it with raw honey. Drink it when chilled. This will not only help you rejuvenate but will also ward off several allergies.

  1. Red onion water

Studies suggest that onions contain a compound called quercetin, which reduces the number of histamine production in the body. Histamine is basically responsible for reducing various allergy symptoms. Besides, the quercetin compound is known to possess anti-inflammatory properties. Take one red onion and cut thin slices of it. Now add them to a cup of water.  Now keep this liquid aside for about 2 hours so that the juice completely gets infused in the water. Drink this concoction at least two times a day. You can also store it in the refrigerator for up to four days. If you find its taste too strong, you can stir some honey in it before consuming.

  1. Neti pot and saline rinse

This remedy is best for those who have sinus related allergies. Using a Neti Pot with sterile saline solution in it helps in flushing out allergens and irritations related to sinus. Just make your own sterile solution by mixing one spoon of sea salt and boiled distilled water. Mix well and then put it in a neti pot. Pour it through one nostril and then let it come out from the other.
