Organic quinoa makes for a good low-calorie substitute for meat with as much protein and iron content as one could derive from the meat. Organic quinoa is a rich source of many minerals, essential amino acids, dietary fibers and comes laden with immense health benefits irrespective of the age.

Ingredients:

Ready to serve in about 35 minutes, this exquisite recipe requires the following ingredients to get going!

  • 500 gm ground turkey (For the Vegans- You may use Tofu!)
  • ¾ cup Organic quinoa (cooked and cooled)
  • 3 garliccloves, grated
  • 2 thinly sliced spring onions
  • 1 egg (Mashed Potatoes could make a good substitute for Vegans)
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tsp Organic Sesame Oil
  • Salt to taste along with ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp Sriracha sauce

For Garnishing:

  • Sesame seeds
  • Some thinly sliced green onions

Preparing Sriracha Sauce:

Sriracha is a kind of chilli sauce typically prepared by mixing a paste of chili peppers, garlic, sugar &salt with distilled vinegar.

Preparing Curry for The Quinoa Meatball:

To prepare the sauce for your Quinoa Meatball Recipe, you would require:

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. distilled vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. Organic Sesame Oil
  • 1 tspSriracha sauce prepared above
  • 2 tspCornstarch


Whisk together the soy sauce, vinegar, grated ginger, sugar, Sesame oil with ½ cup water in a small bowl and transfer the contents into a saucepan to cook over medium heat. In a small bowl, also whisk together the corn starch with 1 tbsp. of water and stir into the soy sauce mixture until the gravy turns thick.

Preparing the Quinoa Meatballs:

To prepare the meatballs, take the turkey (or tofu), cooked organic quinoa, onions, garlic, egg (or potatoes), soy sauce, Sriracha sauce, sesame oil and salt and pepper in a large bowl and stir well till they well-mixed. Roll the mixture into 1 ¼ to 1 ½ inches meatballs, placing them on to a baking dish greased with some sesame oil.

Put the dish with the meatballs into a preheated oven (400 degrees) and bake for about 20 minutes or till the ball turns golden brown uniformly on all sides. Place the cooked Quinoa meatballs into the curry and garnish with the sesame seeds and spring onions kept aside.

Serve your authentic Asian Quinoa meatballs dish piping hot and let all savour its rich aromatic flavour. Add rice as a side dish for a complete dinner meal or serve with chips for a lip-smacking evening snacks!
