Skin pores get blocked due to various factors like oil, dirt, dust and dead skin cells. Also, there are times when the pores get clogged due to inflammation in the skin. This happens because of white blood cells.

Clogged pores lead to various types of skin ailments like blackheads and acne. Therefore, it is necessary to follow a good skin care regime to unclog pores. A regular exfoliation of the skin not only opens pores but also removes dead skin cells, dirt, oil and other impurities.

Let us take a look at various measures, which help in unblocking of clogged pores.

  1. Lemon

Lemons act as a cleansing agent. The presence of citric acid in lemons helps in exfoliating the skin and thus, removes dirt and oil, which is responsible for clogged pores.

All you need to do is apply fresh lemon juice on the skin and then, rub gently for five minutes. Now wash off with lukewarm water. Finish with a good moisturizer. Make sure you follow this treatment daily.

Try a concoction by mixing one tablespoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon each of salt, honey and yogurt. Mix well and apply on your face. Now, gently scrub your face in circular motion for about five minutes. After 10 minutes, wash off with lukewarm water. Do it twice in a week.

Lemon rind is also a great skin cleanser. Just unclog your skin pores by rubbing some lemon rind on the skin. After five minutes, rinse off well. Do it at least two times in a week.

  1. Fuller’s Earth

Fuller’s earth is also beneficial for getting rid of clogged pores. It basically works as a sponge, which draws out all the impurities resulting in clogged pores. Another great benefit of fuller’s earth is that it reduces the excess secretion of oil from the skin. This way it keeps the skin clean and clear.

Take a spoon of each of fuller’s earth, water and oatmeal and mix all the ingredients together. Now apply this concoction on the skin and then let it stay for about 15 minutes. Once it dries up, wash your skin with normal water. Finish with a good moisturizer. Do it at least once in a week.

Also make another preparation by mixing equal portions of fuller’s earth, sandalwood powder and rose water together. Apply it onto your skin and then, allow it to dry. Later rinse off with warm water.

  1. Honey

Honey was once Cleopatra’s beauty secret. But this secret is now a popular home remedy for a beautiful skin. Its application helps in reducing the dirt, which leads to clogged pores. Besides, it also helps in maintaining the elasticity of the skin and keeping the skin hydrated.

Application of raw honey is definitely a great remedy. Rub a spoon of it on the skin and then leave it for a few minutes. Wash off with warm water. Do it at least three times in a week.

Prepare a concoction by mixing three tablespoons of honey and two teaspoons of cinnamon powder. Apply it on your skin then let it stay for 20 minutes. Do it at least once a week to ensure a clean and clear skin.

Alternately, prepare a mixture with two spoons of plain curd and one spoon each of honey and olive oil. Mix all of them well and then apply on your face. After 15 minutes, wash your face with lukewarm water. Use this face pack once in a week to get rid of clogged pores.

  1. Oatmeal

Oatmeal is also a great way to unclog pores. It possesses soothing properties and therefore, treats skin irritation as well. It absorbs all the excess oil from the skin, which is responsible for clogging skin pores. Oatmeal also acts as an exfoliating agent for the skin and therefore, removes dead skin cells. It also helps in lightening the skin color.
