You would have noticed certain dark patches on the skin of your neck. This basically a pigmentation disorder called acanthosis nigricans in medical terminology. Well, you need not worry as it is not at all contagious.

Ageing and excess exposure to sun are the main causes behind these dark patches. However, there are several other reasons that contribute towards these dark patches. Some of them include diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, poor hygiene and sudden change in weight. Well, there are several natural ways to treat these dark spots. Let us take a look at a few of them.

  1. Oats

Oats are added to several beauty masks and scrubs. This is so because they are quite effective in treating skin pigmentation.

To use them, take two spoons of oats and mix them with some fresh tomato puree. Apply this paste on the entire neck area and then, allow it to dry. When the paste is about to dry, scrub it off gently in circular motion. Later, rinse off with cold water. Finish off with a good moisturizer. Repeat this process two times in a week.

Try another concoction by mixing one tablespoon of powdered oats, some milk and honey together. Apply this paste on your neck. After half an hour, rinse off with warm water.

  1. Almonds

Almonds are rich in essential vitamins, which ensure a healthy and radiant skin. They not only nourish the skin but also work on pigmentation.

All you need is some almond paste. To make it, take some fine almond powder and mix it with some milk and honey to get a smooth paste. Apply this mask on the sides and back of the neck, the areas which are more prone to pigmentation. Allow it to dry and then wash off after half an hour. Do is quite often for promising results.

You can also use almond oil to lighten the dark spots on the neck. Just heat the almond oil to a lukewarm temperature and then, massage the skin of your neck with it. Follow this remedy daily. It helps in boosting the blood circulation in the neck area, which further ensures reduction in skin pigmentation.

You can also soak five almonds in water overnight. Grind them the next morning to get a thick paste. Apply this paste on your neck and exfoliate when it is semi dry. Later rinse off with cool water.

  1. Walnuts

Walnuts are a powerhouse of vitamins and minerals, which are responsible for nourishing the skin. To treat dark skin, a walnut scrub it a great remedy.

All you need to do is coarsely grind a few walnuts and mix them with some fresh curd to get a thick paste. Apply this mixture on the dark patches on the neck. Now, exfoliate the skin with semi dry mixture. Later wash off with tap water. Do it at least two times in a week to get a radiant and beautiful neck sans any patches.

  1. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is known to be a universal healer and skin smoother. It also helps in lightening skin color and reducing dark spots. Owing to the presence of antioxidants, aloe vera boosts regeneration of new skin cells.

Just scoop out fresh gel from an aloe vera leaf. Then apply it directly on your neck. Massage for a few minutes and then let it stay for about 20 minutes. Later rinse off with tap water. Repeat this process once in a day for promising results.

  1. Cucumber

Cucumber is also a great remedy for treating dark patches as it contains skin lightening properties. Besides, it also soothes irritated skin and boosts growth of new skin cells.

Squeeze out the juice of grated cucumber and then apply it all over your neck. Once it dries up, wash off with normal water.

Try another concoction by mixing equal quantities of cucumber juice and lemon juice. Dip a cotton ball in this liquid and dab it on to the skin of the neck. Rinse off after 10 minutes. Do it daily for getting a beautiful skin.
