Variety is the spice of life. I say let’s add some spice to our regular, routine boring life. No, I am not suggesting you cook spicy food, nor am I asking you to go out and eat spicy food, basically I am not talking about spicy food at all! Then what? Let’s add some spice to your regular bathing routine. We usually use flowery fragrant soaps, at the most we go and buy musk or aqua soaps, ever thought of spicing up your bathing experience by actually adding spice in your water or soap? Yes, you might have used turmeric or saffron to enhance your beauty, but did you ever think beyond that? No? Never mind, it’s never too late. Here are some soaps to spice up your daily boring bathing routine.

1. Rosemary

Rosemary carries antibacterial properties which make it very useful to treat and heal wounds. Rosemary has mild sweet fragrance, which elevates the mood, it also retards the bacterial growth on our skin and reduces the bad odor produced due to sweating. It helps to relieve pain, thus can be used to treat sore muscles. Rosemary soap helps to hydrate and tone the skin, it rejuvenates the skin leaving it radiant and glowing.

2. Vanilla

Adding a few drops of vanilla to your cup of coffee, cake or any other dessert, enhances its flavour and takes it to a different level. Imagine what adding vanilla to your bathing regime would do. First off, it is a fragrant spice, found in vanilla pods. It leaves a lingering fragrance behind. Adding vanilla to your bathing checklist is important because it relaxes the body, enhances healthy skin growth, removes debris caught in the pores and fights the signs of ageing. Now that you know that vanilla is not only important in your kitchen, it also has a place in your bathroom, how about trying a vanilla soap?

3. Ginger

Ginger is rich in antioxidants and hence helps in fighting free radicles and reduces the signs of ageing like fine lines and wrinkles. It also carries anti-inflammatory characteristics thus is very useful to reduce the puffiness beneath eyes. It also soothes burns, clears blemishes and prevents from breakouts and acne. When combined with lemon, a ginger lemon soap, boosts immunity, reduces the spots and even tones the skin, and when combined with papaya and orange, a papaya-ginger-orange soap exfoliates the skin.

4. Poppy Seeds

Poppy seeds, also known as khas khas in Hindi is an oil seed derived from the poppy plant. It has many health benefits, for example, it has cooling properties thus it helps to cool down our body temperature. But poppy seeds also have external uses. Poppy seeds have been used to moisturize skin since ancient times. This moisturizing use is also mentioned in Ayurveda. This is the reason I guess people came up with the idea of poppy seed soap in modern era. Khas khas, because of their deformed shape and crisp structure, they are also used to scrub and exfoliate the skin. These seeds also help to soothe irritated and wounded skin.

5. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a spice taken from the bark of trees. These barks, which are processed into this wonderful, multi-utility spice are a very rich source of antioxidants. These antioxidants like other antioxidants, fight the signs of ageing. Apart from that, this spice softens dry and itchy skin, plumping it up, leaving it soft and supple. A cinnamon soap also helps to improve skin complexion, thus giving you a clean and clear skin.

6. Black Pepper

All of us know how beneficial black pepper is when it comes to health, especially when we are suffering from a cough and cold. Black pepper soothes our situation and relaxes us. Black pepper is a very rich source of antioxidants. It also contains potassium, magnesium, iron and Vitamin C. Sometimes, our skin stops producing the pigments that are responsible for giving colour to our skin. In such scenario, the skin turns white. But regular usage of black pepper soap, stimulates the pigmentation growth. It also reduces dark spots and protects us against premature ageing. Black pepper works as a brilliant exfoliator.
