Since winters are almost round the corner, your lips must have started to dry out. If not taken proper care of, they may cause bleeding and discoloration. So, have a look at a few homemade remedies, which will help you achieve soft and pink lips this winter season.

  1. Honey and Lemon Juice

To make this concoction, all you need is one spoon of honey and half spoon of lemon juice. Just mix the prescribed quantity of both the ingredients in a small bowl. Now apply it on your lips and allow it to stay for about 15 minutes. Later, wipe gently with a warm washcloth. Finish with a moisturizing lip balm. Do this ritual daily to get soft and pink lips. Since lemon is known to possess skin lightening properties, it cures pigmentation. While honey is great as a nourishing agent.

  1. Aloe Vera Gel

For this, you need one aloe vera leaf. Just peel the outer layer of the aloe leaf. Now extract the gel from inside by scooping it out. Store this gel in a small container. Refrigerate it so that it stays fresh for a couple of days. Apply it in place of your regular lip balm. Apply it whenever you feel like. You can also repeat this application several times in a day. Owing to its soothing and healing properties, aloe vera gel is commonly used in treated dry and chapped lips. It promotes formation of new skin cells, thus making your lips soft and pink.

  1. Beetroot Balm

Just collect two tablespoons of olive oil, half teaspoon of beetroot powder, and one tablespoon each of beeswax pellets and shea/cocoa butter. Take a glass jar and add shea butter, olive oil and beeswax to it. Now take a sauce pan and heat some water in it. Place the glass jar in this hot water so that the wax melts along with other ingredients. Now add beetroot powder to this melted mixture and mix well. When the mixture is semi liquid, transfer it to an old lip balm container and allow it to take form. Now use this mixture as your regular lip balm.

Owing to the color of beetroot, your lips will get a pinkish tinge with a regular application. Moreover, beetroot is helpful in get rid of skin pigmentation. This happens due to the presence of vitamin C in it. While olive oil and shea butter act as nourishing agents, thus making your lips supple.

  1. Pomegranate Juice

For this treatment, you just need one cup of pomegranate seeds.

Add these pomegranate seeds to a juicer to extract the juice. Store this juice in the refrigerator so that it lasts for a couple of days. Now, dip a cotton ball in this juice and dab it onto your lips. Apply it daily for promising results. Apply this juice regularly to get rid of pigmentation and make your lips rosy pink. The presence of a compound called punicalagins in pomegranate helps in hindering melanin production, thus preventing your lips from getting dark.

  1. Olive Oil and Sugar

All you need is one tablespoon each of olive oil and sugar. Mix the prescribed quantity of sugar and olive oil in a jar and mix well. Now take some of this mixture and rub it onto your lips. Do it gently and in circular motion. Once done, wipe your lips with a warm washcloth. Later, moisturize well with a hydrating lip balm. This exfoliating scrub will help in getting rid of all the excess dead skin and promote regeneration of new skin cells. Repeat this procedure at least twice in a week. The olive oil in this scrub helps in making your lip smooth and soft.
