Potato-   Potatoes are widely known as a pain reliever throughout the years, works well on minor skin irritations and soothes scratches, bites, burns and help in reducing inflammation as well. Potato juice and slices both work really well on sunburn. What you will need to do is;

  • 2 potatoes
  • Knife or grater
  • Cotton balls

Wash potatoes; don’t remove its peels. Either cut them into slices or grate them with the help of grater. If you are grating it then try to get as much juice as possible from it. Soak cotton bolls in it and apply on your sunburns. If you want to use slices then simply take one slice and rub gently on affected areas. Let it rest on your face for 8-10 minutes and wash it off with cold water.

Mint & green tea- Mint helps to cool and sooth naturally, whatever it comes in contact with. Its cooling and soothing properties heal searing red skin naturally so sunburns are not an exceptional case for mint. The tannic acid and theobromine which is found in natural green tea also helps relieve pain and heal damaged skin. What you require are;

  • 1 quarter of boiling water of kitchen pot
  • 5 bags of green tea
  • 3 cups of fresh mint leaves
  • Cotton pads

Put mint leaves and tea bags (removing strings and tag) in a pan add boiling water on leaves and tea bags, and cover it with lid. Let it rest for an hour so that you can get all the beneficial abstracts out from it. Stain and then let this mixture get chilled.  Use this chilled mixture on your burns with the help of cotton pads. Black tea can be used as a substitute in the absence of green tea. 

Cucumber- Cucumber is an Instant reliever for sunburns. It is not only a natural cooling and soothing ingredient but its antioxidant and analgesic properties also promote healing and further relief. Cucumber acts as a best antidote to remove swelling, redness, and pain, caused by sunburn. What we want are;

  • 1 or 2 fresh cucumbers
  • Blender or a knife

Slice up a cucumber and lay it on your burned skin. You need to flip the slices once the first side heats up or take 2 chilled cucumbers and blend them in a blender and make a thick paste. You can also add some aloe Vera gel in it for better result.

Aloe Vera- Many people go with Aloe Vera to heal their sunburns. Aloe Vera is famous for its goodness. This plant is rich with natural properties which contribute a lot for our skin and health. Aloe Vera is used in many ayurvedic medicines since ancient times. The nature of this plant is cool and soothing which helps to heal redness right out of your sunburn.

Aloe Vera gel (liquid inside the leaves) can directly be applied on burns. One can also use natural aloe Vera gel available in market that has already been extracted from leaves.
