Harmful radiations from the sun can damage the fibers in the skin causing it to age before time. It can also cause wrinkles, dryness, discoloration of skin, sagging of skin and skin cancer. Use of a good sunscreen shields the skin against harmful radiations.

Sunscreens are your best friends if you are going out in the sun. The radiations from Sun can cause problems like wrinkles, dryness, discoloration, sagging of skin, skin cancer etc. It is therefore necessary to take care of our skin when we are out in the sun. Varieties of sunscreens are available in the market and often create confusion on what to buy. Here are a few pointers on what do the different contents of the sunscreens do.

The SPF:

SPF or Sun Protection Factor is a numerical rating factor that denotes the time you can spend in Sun before your skin starts getting burnt. There are sunscreen lotions available from an SPF 15 to SPF 60 and you can choose one based on the amount of exposure to the sun. If you are out in the sun for longer periods then using a higher spf sunscreen is advisable.

Carrot Seed Oil:

Carrot Seed Oil is known to contain SPF of at least 35–40.  A herbal sunscreen containing carrot seed oil nourishes the skin along with guarding it against the sun for atleast 40 minutes till reapplication.

Avocado Oil:

Avocados have the ability to cure sunburn. Use of Sunscreens with Avocado Oil give dual benefit – one being sun protection and the other being the healing of already damaged skin. Avocado protects the skin from aging and moisturizes giving the skin a lustrous look.

Aloe Vera:

Aloe Vera cures sunburns, reduces tan, moisturizes the skin, reduces the acne and blemishes and also heals the skin. A sunscreen with Aloe Vera in it will protect the skin from sunburn along with healing it naturally leaving it beautiful and blemish free.

Cucumber:

Cucumber is also known to cure sunburns, tans and provide sun protection. Try a sunscreen with Cucumber if you have a tan or sunburn to cure. You can also use cucumber face packs at home to repair sun damage and refresh the skin.

Applying sunscreen on your skin is a must while going out, be it facial or skin on the body parts. Skin is very delicate, and some of the rays emanating from the sun can do much damage to our precious skin. Make sure you keep a good stock of sunscreen in your handbag at all times.  Click here to know more about different sunscreens for different problems.
