Being a parent can be a tiresome job; constant checking for any rashes or other skin problems on that tender skin of your little sweetie can be very difficult. Somethings are inevitable but these are, and with the proper baby powder things can become even easier.

The difficulty arises in choosing whether to use natural or commercial baby powders. As fancy as the commercial baby products may seem they contain a lot of chemicals and can cause side effects. So the obvious choice becomes Natural baby powders.

NATURAL BABY POWDER

In a quest to completely avoid the commercial baby products, the natural products are the best way to replace them. These natural products have minimum side effects on the baby’s skin at the same time acting as a barrier on the outside. It’s quite easy to do this

PROPER SELECTION OF INGREDIENTS-

The first step towards selecting the proper baby powder , so that there are no regrets in the future will be as follows-

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR-

  • Prevention is better than cure.
  • Your doctor will be able to choose the appropriate ingredients which are comfortable for the baby, as some ingredients can cause side effects.

AVOID AROMATIC OILS-

  • For babies under the age of 3 months, avoid the use of aromatic oils.
  • The skin for babies under this age is still very tender and prone to catch rashes.

INGREDIENTS USED AND WHY.

ARROWROOT POWDER OR FLOUR

  • (Or flour)- Arrowroot is a type of starchy root which is mainly used in cooking for thickening of the food and also as a replacement for corn starch.
  • The flour absorbs moisture so it is a great option for natural recipes requiring powder.

CLAY-

  • Bentonite clay is the most effective type because of its better moisture absorption capabilities. White cosmetic clay can also be used as a substitute for bentonite clay.

ESSENTIAL OILS-

A binding agent and at the same time giving fragrance, absorbing moisture and being antibacterial and anti-inflammatory; Chamomile and lavender are two essential oils that are considered safe for babies

NOTE- THESE OILS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED BY DOCTORS FOR BABIES UNDER 3 MONTHS, AS THEIR SKIN IS STILL VERY TENDER.

DRIED CALENDUAL FLOWERS

  • Calendula good for skin healing especially wounds and in some cases eczema.
  • Calendula has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial properties making it useful for disinfecting and treating, diaper rashes, and other minor irritations and infections.

DRIED CHAMOMILE FLOWERS

  • It too is very good in healing and also has anti-inflammatory properties. Chamomile is also used as a soothing agent.

DRIED LAVENDER FLOWERS

  • They not only smell wonderful but they are very helpful with healing burns.

The above-mentioned ingredients are completely natural and when compared with the commercial products which contain Talc, which may cause numerous side effects; the natural product improves the growth of the child. 

DIRECTIONS-

  • Using a blender blend the flowers into a fine powder
  • In a bowl, add in the ground flowers, the bentonite clay, and arrowroot flower.
  • Mix them all together.
  • Add in essential oils if desired and mix again.
  • Transfer the contents from the bowl into an air-tight container and keep it away from the reach of the baby.

TO USE AND NOTE-

Sprinkle the powder. on the palm of the hand away from the baby to avoid inhalation, because when inhaled they can cause respiratory problems for the baby.

NOTE-

All these ingredients are specified for babies over the age of 3 months, and for babies before the age of 3 months; please consent with a pediatrician before using.

Keeping the skin of your baby soft and smooth is much easier with the use of baby powders. It acts as a warrior which protects the skin of your little one.
