You have too many things to worry about your baby that ranges between feeding, changing, burping, and soothing. However the last thing that you would want to worry about is baby clothes that take too much effort. But once you are able to know a few simple rules for shopping, even the most soiled diaper change will go more smoothly and your little one can enjoy the day. The following are a few tips for buying proper baby wear.

  • Go cotton

As per the experts’recommendation, you must opt for either 100 percent organic or 100 percent combed cotton when it comes to purchasing clothes for babies 12 months or younger. Pure cotton is always preferred as the baby is sensitive. Experimentation with blends can be done later.

  • Think by considering all possibilities

While snaps, buttons, and zippers can be a positive thing, they can also be frustrating when you're doing a sleep-deprived diaper change or have a wriggly baby on your hands. It is better to go for the option of stretchy neck holes mostly for the ones with envelope like folds at the neckline as they are awesome for sliding over a sensitive newborn's head. Snaps at the crotch remain a favorite for the simple ease they bring to changing a dirty diaper.

  • Buy pants with elastic waists

Jeans maybe dashing and you may also want your baby to get into a pair like yours but it's not so fun getting him in and out of those teeny denim dungarees. It’s better to opt for stretchy elastic pants rather than buttons or drawstrings.

  • Don’t just rely on the label size

Every baby is different, and every clothing brand has different standards for sizing. Your child may have long legs or a short torso. He may be a chunky newborn and need to go up a size. Don’t make a mistake by buying clothes just by seeing the tag or brand.

  • Aim for simplicity

There is no need to prove that you are a style diva by buying disco clothes for your baby, at least not in the initial days for sure. It is better to go for very simple and sober clothes.

  • Shop wisely

It is good to buy clothes in advance but it is also recommended to shop wisely. Buying winter clothes during the spring and summer sales can save you tons of money, but don't go overboard or overcommit to a certain style or size. Otherwise, you may have to suffer thinking why did you go to buy too many clothes. It can be hard to predict what size your child will wear six months or more down the road, so it’s a necessity to be judicious on what and how much you purchase is optimum.

  • Think creatively about color

Your baby’s mood can be lifted with ambience around him or her and the color of your baby’s clothes can play a big role in this regard. Today's baby clothes offer a huge range of colors and patterns, so you can have fun with the color palette. It is good to consider aqua blue and purple for little boys, and shades of orange, aqua, and purple for girls. Inventive patters and prints can be icing on the cake.

  • Opt for the larger size

When in doubt, always opt for larger sizes. Babies can seem to grow overnight, and the last thing you would want is a drawer full of constricting garments that needs to be thrown away. You can always roll up pant legs or tuck in too-long T’s to bridge the time between spurts.
