Baby skin is very delicate and soft, any compromises with its care can be more than just a mistake. Therefore, you need to be extremely careful with every step you take towards preserving its sensitivity.
Babies need all the attention in the world that you can provide them with; whether it’s their clothing, their food, their baths or their skin – everything is supposed to be handled with much care. Skin care for them is something that will require all of your patience and time. The first thing you ought to know is that you CANNOT use the same products for them as you use for yourself. The wrong products can be tough on their skin or might damage it. Be careful with the baby products you’re going to apply to your newborn’s skin.
Let’s begin with massaging their body.
It is important to keep the skin and bones of your baby healthy, and there is no better way of doing that than massaging your baby. Massage your baby’s body before going for bath.
Now it’s time to bath them.
The water should be kept warm to keep your baby’s skin hydrated. Use baby soaps as they are gentle on the skin unlike the general soaps that grownups use. Also, to wash their skin baby shampoos should be used without letting it drop on their face. Make sure your baby does not sit or play in soapy water for long. To make sure the baby isn’t cold keep pouring the water at intervals on its shoulders.
After they have finished bathing, pat them dry instead of rubbing the towel against their body and cover them with a hooded towel.
Apply some baby lotion while the skin is still wet to keep the skin from getting dried up. Try using products that are fragrance-free.
Use the size right size of diapers for your baby and change them frequently. Wipe the bottom of your baby gently but thoroughly to avoid rashes and never use any harsh cloth for that task, always prefer baby wipes over anything else that is available.
In case of rashes, use baby powder and rash creams.
