Ovarian cysts are quite common these days. These little cysts are basically fluid-filled pockets that get formed within or on the surface of ovaries.

As per Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), majority women who are undergoing the phase of pre-menopause develop cysts at least once in their lifetime. Besides, 14.8 per cent of women develop them after menopause.

In most cases, these cysts get naturally formed during menstrual cycle and then get dissolved too easily. And, they are of course not part of a disease. However, pathological cysts can be too.

Overview of Ovarian cysts

Most women do not get to know about cysts because they usually do not cause any problem. But in a few cases, they can lead to symptoms like abdominal bloating, irregular periods, pain during bowel movements, pelvic pain during menstrual cycle, pain during intercourse, pain in lower back or thighs, nausea and vomiting. In extreme cases, they also hamper a woman’s fertility.

Usually, these cysts disappear on their own in a period of few months. But in case they persist, do consult your doctor.

Home remedies for Ovarian cysts

Few home remedies too can help in dissolving them. Let us take a look at a few of them.

Castor Oil

Castor oil is a superb remedy for ovarian cysts. This oil basically cleanses the body by flushing out excess tissues and toxins. Besides, it also boosts the functioning of lymphatic and circulatory systems, thus reducing the formation of cysts.

All you need to do is fold a large flannel cloth three times so that it becomes thick. Make sure the cloth is large enough so that it covers the entire abdomen area. Just pour around two tablespoons of castor oil on this cloth. Now fold the cloth in half till it saturates and then, unfold it. Then spread an old towel on the bed and then lie down. Now place this oil-soaked cloth on your abdomen. Afterwards, place a hot water bottle on it and cover yourself with a blanket. After half an hour, remove the cloth pack. To remove the excess oil from your abdomen, wash the area with a solution made by mixing three tablespoons of baking soda and four cups of water together. Follow this remedy three times in a week for best results. Make sure that you do not follow this remedy during periods.

    Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea is another great remedy for curing ovarian cysts and the related pain and discomfort. It has a sedative effect and thus, helps reduce pain and relaxes your muscles. Besides this tea has warm nature and therefore, regulates irregular periods. This is done by stimulating flow of blood in pelvic area and uterus.

Take two teaspoons of dried chamomile and add it in a cup of hot water. Afterwards, cover it and let it steep for a few minutes. Then strain and add a teaspoon of honey in it. Drink this cup of tea while it is lukewarm. Consume this herbal tea three times in a day till the problem gets resolved.

      Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar shrinks and dissolves cysts in the ovary that are a result of potassium deficiency. Therefore, several experts suggest a potassium-rich diet for women.

Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water. Also add a tablespoon of black strap molasses. Mix well and savor this solution two times in a day. Do it daily till the cysts disappear completely.

        Beetroot

Beetroot is a rich source of a compound called betacyanin, which improves the ability of the liver to flush out toxins from your body. Also, it is alkaline in nature and therefore, helps in balancing the level of acidity in the body. This process further helps in reducing the severity of cysts’ symptoms.

Take half cup of freshly extracted beetroot juice and mix it one tablespoon each of aloe vera gel and blackstrap molasses. Stir well and consume it daily before breakfast. Do it daily for quick results.

Follow these home remedies and you should be able to get quick relief for symptoms of ovarian cysts.
